Description
From CPM: The Devil's Castle was a dark and somber place, until the good-hearted apprentice ASARELLA stumbled on it in a goodwill mission, against her master's wishes--the archmage ELIWHO. Things sour quickly, as Asarella was bound with a blood pact to the Devil, KAINEN. Little did she know, the mage harbors a secret love for her that will only complicate her training for the upcoming apocalyptic battle. This sets up the most unusual love triangle of all space and time.
The world is fairly interesting, the non-romance part of the plot is pretty neat, and the art is gorgeous. The first volume is light, funny, and happy, but after that things get serious pretty abruptly. You're in for some major mood whiplash.
I didn't like the romance parts.

One love interest is very controlling. The other is all right, up until the point when things get very... rape-y. Poor Rell spends an awful lot of time crying and having her love interests making her feel terrible in various ways.
With a situation like that, unless it's portrayed in a very specific way, it stops being interesting, and just gets uncomfortable.
I don't know if I'd read it again or not. I may have just not been in the right mood for reading it. Overall though, reading it just felt... iffy.
I completed the whole series within 2 days.. which is pretty crazy. But even until the end, there were tons of unanswered questions! I was reading continuously trying to get more answers >_< But most of them wasn't answered till the end..

- Who are her parents? How did she have the ability of the black magician to read mind? Why is her pure magic so strong that she is able to escape from the netherlands? Is there no continuous stories with regards to her magic? - Who is that masked man? - Who is Gatmiel? Why is he a half blood? And why is he related to the masked man?
Really hoped the sequel will be able to answer all these questions.. T_T
I really have nothing more to say because much of the stuff I wanted to put down in my comment was already said by other members and readers like the confusion about many things being unanswered in the end, but hopefully I'll find the answers in the sequel which I intend to read next, and perhaps in the prequel which is also worth reading as an intro to the whole story. I hope the story will come to its real culmination eventually and that the resolution of the story will be satisfactory. I won't even try with listing all the adjetives, atributes and epithets that I was able to acquire towards the art, the plot and especilly the characters and the setting, while reading the story. The list will be longer than a Chinese wall and anyway, I can't really describe it with words, to be honest. Maybe Im under the impression right now, but still, story is just too epically utopian, magical, full of fantasy and visions of Neverland...It allowed me, or better, it made me keep dreaming again, it made me feel like an imagination can go real, even in the boundaries of someone's head. It's powerful, just like that : ) Highly-recommended!
First volumes of this manhwa were so interesting, I just couldn't stop reading(and I have to say I was hungry as hell), but after 6th volume I just looked at pictures - basically I lost interest in story(I don't do that often). It left many unanswered questions, but once sequel is finished I'll give it second try
I gave 9 to this series mainly because of art -ehm...devil lord Kainen. SO SEXY!!! His eyes...kyaaaa. Piercied ears, Pierced lip, PIERCED NIPPLE!!!!.....KYAAAAa....gugggle...major nosebleed
The series started out great, but gradually nosedived towards the end. The way the series ended left many questions unanswered.

For example, there was an all-out war between different races in the end and the manga didn't explain why the war started. And, who exactly is that masked guy (with the feathers)? Why is he important and who are his parents? And, I still don't understand why Kainen is dying. Is he dying because he loves Asarella way too much????!!!! Is love forbidden for Belliars?
There were many loose ends in the story, and I'm hoping the sequel will patch them up. I thought the manga will end with 1 or more characters dying because of the tragedy genre, but it didn't end as horribly as I expected:

Hint: Asarella did NOT end up with Elihue, which is a relief. I hope Asarella will find true freedom in the sequel.
Character development wasn't as extensive as, say, Pandora Hearts. Asarella's indecisiveness can get quite annoying but it's understandable because she's only 18 and just a child (in the Mascan point of view).
The plot started light with the typical shoujo-ish plot. I found it very charming when the devil lord kiss Rell's foot, taking her sarcasm literally. The irregular releases turned me off because I need to go back to read the chapters before to be able to understand the new release. Then, I put it on hold but glad I decided to throw it back to my reading list as the plot is thickening and diverge from the regular shoujo into something better. It may be a bit slow in the middle (where I decided to put it on hold) but afterwards, it promises you a gripping story. It may be a bit confusing with words filling up the bubble conversation so I skim it through.
As others have said, the first seven chapters are really an introduction - they're light and airy and nothing too serious happens. The panneling is sometimes imaginative and the mini-stories don't flow well into one another but the art is a lot better than some mangas and the storylines are fine for their length. After that, however, the story deepens and becomes darker. There are some holes, but I think that's because the author didn't know which direction they wanted to take the story in. There is a love triangle, which is interesting because

I changed my mind half way through about who I was rooting for. The magician dude (Rell's guardian) was my first choice, but he's been way too jealous and stiffling. So even though the Demon Lord did all that stuff to Rell, I can't help feeling a bit sorry for him
The character development in the story is good, and characters aren't just forgotten about. The plot is thickening and developing, the art is...unique but nice; lots of attention to detail.
i'm not gonna go into a rant of why rell is boring. i really hate heroines like her but like what i said the story makes up for her. the flow of the story keeps you looking forward for the next chapter and the it doesn't drag. i hate it when authors do that, they spend freaking 5-10 chapters on just one issue in the story.
Love it!! So far, it's been kind of boring but in the last few chapters I read, it's getting more exciting. I want more action! Although I heard that towards the middle of the manhwa, things get fired up a bit, I can't wait. This is definitely something you would want to try. The artwork is amazing and the humans there are really different there.
EDIT: Wow, I finally finished reading Masca after all these years LOL (TOOK ME 3 YRS) I really hated the ending. WTF BUTTTTT I have high hopes for the sequel..
When I first started reading this manga I thought that it was not well thought out. The characters had no depth and the "love" circumstances were just plain laughable. The art was very well done, but that was it. After reading more into the series I'm looking forward to the end. Imagination was good and the story was enjoyable
