Never judge a book by its movie. While it is true that there are some adaptions that are rather faithful, there are some that you wouldn't recognize as being from a book if it wasn't for the name. Thinks of Eragon and shudders
Oh jeez, was Eragon really that bad? 😕 I think the Harry Potter movies turned out pretty good, even though they left some stuff out, but that was pretty much expected...
yes it was! they changed the main character from being a naive brat to an insolent pretty boy WITH BLOND HAIR eragons hair is supposed to be brown BROWN. and they also gave arya blond hair WTF. in all the chapters arya was mentioned poulini described with vivid description about arya's black hair.
yeah WB did a good job with harry potter they met all my major expectations and when you look at how long the books were you can hardly blame them for leaving stuff out. and the actors they chose looked exactly like how i pictured them in my head

I didn't really like Harry Potter 4. They cut too many things out. Yes, I know it's a movie but there were some special parts in it that I really wanted to see but they cut out.
Now, some awful movie adaptions along the same lines as Eragon (haven't seen Eragon though), Holes. He was supposed to be FAT!! FAT!! Shia LeBeouf didn't look fat in the movie, well not to me.
If anyone's read Ella Enchanted you would know that the movie adaption sucks. None of the characters are the way they're supposed to be, personality-wise. I'm not sure about appearance wise because I was too busy being ticked off the whole time I was watching it. And like someone said about Eragon, you wouldn't know it was the same story unless you read the title.

Pride and Prejudice is almost a century old, and it happens to be a favorite of mine.
There was one point in time that I tried to go through as many of the classics as I could, partly out of curiosity and partly because I wanted to be able to see what made them classics. I found that a majority of them don't live up to their names... or perhaps I'm not savant enough to understand their depths. I could not finish The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco, and it's still as of today collecting dust on my shelf. (I really should finish it)
I tried some more popular authors' works like IT by Stephen King... but I found that I could not continue "it" ( 😀 ) due to his writing style. Stephen King to me right now is the King of the Sh*t Weasles.
I'm discounting all the books that I've read for school purposes, because I would think that most people have read them as well...

Errrr a century perhaps, not a millennium! 🤣
I quite enjoyed Tom Jones, but I have to be in the right frame of mind to read that sort of thing. The pace & writing style are a lot different than what's popular today.

And don't forget Murtagh... that was a slaughter.
As for Harry Potter, I was disappointed by the things lacking in themovie, but I still enjoyed it.

You serious? 😲 but she is one of the worst female fantasy writers...her books seem to be written for 13 years old girls. And it's not only my opinion, of course. There are even few quite cruel jokes about her - when I was a journalist, I heard one of them from a fantasy writer. Looks like noone takes her serious. She never got World Fantasy Award (as far as I remember) or any other important award.
You shocked me a bit...
