There's some shonen ai'ish yaoi (similar lines, lot less sex) that's just as good, but it's limited. (I know one author's very good at it, but her characters all kind of look alike and her plots run into each other.)

I actually had the same experience as you, tried yaoi for the first time and it was horrible PWP (porn without plot) with really bad art that put me off yaoi for a long time. Something possessed me to read another one (probably experience with slash fanfic, which has a similar porn/tolerable ratio) and since then I've picked up 134 mangas (not including the ones I've never put on my lists 'cause they were so horrible).

i've read yaoi for about 5 months..
and until now....hhmmmm...
i think i've got 15 cd and read more than 500 yaoi
and will read more and more.

Don't even remember the whole thing; it just popped up in my 'completed manga' list the other day and found it on my backup. I also remember reading it a bit but I think I thought it was male & female... I must've been intoxicated or something :s

I became a yaoi fan around 3-4 years ago or so.
I'd estimate around 400+ >_>;

i think i've read over 600-700+ and try to read a new one every 2nd to 3rd day
but i know i have over 35gb on the hard drive at least 30+ 4gb CD and brought over 20 actually books

To be fair, I'm counting yaoi doujinshi and yaoi shota as being yaoi.

Hmm, hard to say in total, here are some fast figures though:
Owns:
-67 series (English)
-11 series (Japanese)
-1 series (German)
-11 Novels
-44 Doujins

Downloaded:
-Around 70 gigs
-If we add in doujinshi, that's a lot more, for example, I have just over 600 different Prince of Tennis doujins on my external.

The owning bit goes by series, easier to measure, the downloads by file size because that's easier. Oddly, the majority of my manga is still shounen I think, at least the stuff I own.

Ack, you know what this means? I now own more yaoi than I do Gundam models. I'm not sure whether to be happy or sad about that.
