hi guys, sorry, i know i'm a complete noob, but can anyone help me out with some IRC problems i have?

first of all, i've read up on how IRC works, and have a basic understanding, i also understand that you need an IRC client to access the chat, but when i searched the web for freeware IRC clients i got inundated with a tidal flood of different clients i can use x.x

does anyone have any suggestions as to which client i should get? i'm running a windows XP machine, im not quite sure what other specs you need to make a suggestion, so if you need any others, just ask and i'll be glad to tell you (if i know >.>')

also, can you only talk to people with the same client as you? or can you talk with anyone? if it's the former, im looking for people with an interest in lolicon (hehe), i'm willing to give and take, buuuut... everything i have to give, they'll probably already have XP. but i can still offer what i DO have ^.^ (which is mainly doujinshi and manga, i have a few pics (about 5000) but they dont 'do it' for me, i prefer proper stories. my favouries would have to be the "life is peachy" collection, and the "papa nanka daikirai" manga. they're so sweet ♥)

anyways, yeah, that's about it =P. wondering what client i should use given the fact that im a lolicon addict?
once i have the client, i'll prolly join a few small chats and bugg people to try and work out all the irc commands. lol. hopefully someone'll give me a link to a webpage that has a list of common irc commands, that way i wont have to keep pestering peoples 🙂

if you have future plans on sharing your collection i prefer SysReset, you can get it from [url]http://sysreset.com/[/url]... i used this guide when i was just starting learning irc --> [url]http://www.kasshin.net/[/url] <-- very helpful...

got confused by the client thing... basically, you can use any irc client... as long as you are able to join a channel, you can talk with anyone in the channel as long as they're online... but do read the rules first, some groups have really strict "governance"...

again, thanks ^.^. but i've heard mIRC isn't a very good client... i was told that it tracks the sites you visit and so on... i was told it even bypasses the TOR Project freeware application! (although i doubt it would be impossible to force it to send through the TOR network, it'd just be a bitch to find someone online who knows how to do it >.>')
(the TOR Project is a project to maximise security on the internet. it helps hide your IP address and prevents you from being tracked. if you use TOR and Privoxy together, AND CONFIGURE THEM PROPERLY (hard part) then you're fairly bullet proof on the web. but you should still encrypt anything private in case someone is trying to listen in...)

ariagtou gozaimasu~ kasshin looks really user friendly and is hopefully just that =). its late now though (im an aussie) so i'll have to follow up on it this weekend.
the CLIENT is the program you use to connect to IRC. examples of IRC clients are 0irc, ClicksAndWhistles, JedIrc, WookieChat, and XiRCON. actually, these are just the freeware IRC clients listed on wikipedia's page here XD.

and yes, if i happen to bump into a yaoi corner, i'll be certain to let you know 😉. i know of a few sites, but your only after IRC channels aren't you?

can i install the irc client on an external HDD and run it from there?
i ask this because im on a shared computer =P. i keep all my apps on an external HDD. that way the only way people can access my apps is if my HDD is pluged into my computer. while im away, i just take the usb and power cables with me 😀 .

just a note: im not a translater, scanlater, raw provider, or anything else. im simply a leecher who likes to chat on forums. i then take what i've leeched here and upload them to other sites for more leachers XDDD. i like to think of myself as a source-er. i like to get stuff and forward it on 🙂 .
