if we also include non manga characters then you will be hard pressed to find a manlier character then Roland Deschain the main character in the stephen kings seriers The Dark Tower. If you read the series you know what i mean, if you haven't then you should it is an awsome book series.

one piece has some pretty manly characters also...... Franky, Zoro, and Sanji.....

also, just started Shamo.......and i have to say, this guy Ryu (or is it Ryo?) is easily the most GAR character i've ran into......beating out guts and golgo 13

naaaah, man there's no way he is. i've read pretty far into it too. believe me he pales in comparison to them. 🤣 Guts and Golgo 13 lose to Ryo in being GAR..... nah it just not possible no matter how i look at it. 🤣 😛

I may be mistaken but like the first post said, I thought the word GAR was a derivative of the phrase otoko GARashi

translation I picked up was something along the lines of manly, or that which is definitive of a man among men.

With that said my vote would be for Kenshiro from Souten no Ken (not to be confused with Kenshiro from Hokuto no Ken)

Also, if he's not been mentioned how about General Cross from D.Gray-man

he gets pretty GAR when he needs to impress the ladies.

c'mon now....this guy is a beast, he fux more then Guts and Golgo combined......and he kix just as much ass.....not to mention Gutts has softened up in the past volumes of Berserk....so yeah, i'm gonna have to go with Ryo Narushima on this one pal....but lets just agree to disagree.....or better yet, someone should make a "official most gar character" poll...but anyways

i got another candidate most gar female character.......Theresa from Claymore...... that's a bad ass broad, also that white haired woman (girl rather) from Tenjho Tenge.....don't remember her name, i think it was Natsume or something, but yeah she was gar as all hell

And I don't really consider those two GAR. Yeah, they may be very strong, but they still don't give the GAR vibe off. That's all personal opinion, though.
