very true
I started to get into anime and manga because of Naruto, my first anime, well there were other I saw before it like dragon ball z or yu gi oh, pokemon or other kiddy stuff like that, but naruto was the one that started my anime craze I was soo hooked I couldn't believe something that cool existed, but after that I watched a bunch of new anime which I consider by far better (FMA, FMP, DN Angel)
on the manga, front naruto was also my first manga which I started reading only because I wanted to know what happens next, other than that I thought manga wasn't as cool as anime, but the same happened here I kept hearing a lot about some other manga and after reading them my perception changed and I know think manga is way better than anime and almost all the other manga I've read I consider to e better than naruto
and as ramaru said naruto is good for the inexperienced reader, its good for starters , but on the long run there are way better choices out there

Actually, for me, I read plenty manga before I read Naruto. But I don't think almost all magas I've read, before or after, is better than Naruto. It's true that it is a good for starters manga, but the age and reading experience must be considered as well.
In my book, Naruto is one of the greatest shonens ever. And I've read a lot. And I mean A Lot!

don't get me wrong I really did like the chunnin exam arc and the bring back sasuke arc, in fact all the arc from the post time skip it had continued like that then I too would consider it one of the best, but since the time-skip its all been crap, and as fighting goes... its not even ninja-like anymore, now they just go head on and use jutsus that can destroy forests, mountains, in the post-time skip naruto they would think of some strategy, try to fool the enemy, stuff like that

How about the post time skip Shikamaru fight? Sakura and Chiyo? They did some pretty good strategies there. Especially when you compare it to other shounen manga.
I just think that 75% of the "Naruto Haters", don't even know why they hate it.. >_>
They give non-satisfactory arguments.. It doesn't hold much ground..

To me Naruto is overrated and it is like

The more you read the higher are your expectations. But I guess for people like you it's impossible to understand, since all you do is lurk around in stupid mainstream sites like narutofan.com, stoptazmo.com and mangahelpers. Those ppl will never understand the importance of realistic elements like philosophy, politics or drama which only seinen manga can provide.

seinen manga aren't good to read a lot at once, you may become depressed or it may pu some weird ideas in your head, although I do atmit that no shounen can beat a good seinen, my favorite mangas are seinen by the way (Vagabond, Homunculus, Real )
and good luck with Sanctuary silv, thanks for that awesome manga

If you're just going to come on to insult people to help massage your E-peen do it somewhere else. This site is for FRIENDLY discussion, not for getting into pissing matches over whether or not a certain manga is good or not. Anyways, it's pretty clear you're not going to persuade anyone of anything talking the way you are here.

"people like you"? lol....i've never read naruto, and i think it's an overrated manga, but your comment forced me to participate in this discussion....many apologies for the going-off-topic, but seriously, who do you think you are to feel superior over others, just because they're not reading mangas in the same category as you do? seinen maybe better than shounen for many aspects, but go back and read closely, even the damn thread's title is "Naruto...My opinion of why it is a true (shonen) ingenious work..." in case your eye sight is so used to text filled with "philosophy", "politics", and "drama" that you can't even lower your standard to read the damn title closely, it said SHOUNEN, NOT seinen....this is NOT a topic for the discussion of whether naruto is a great seinen manga....hell, i don't think of it highly at all even for a shounen, but no one is freakin argueing about awesome seinen qualities that naruto has....."those people" and "people like you" clearly stated that you feel superior than others just because you read manga of the seinen category.....dude, every genre has its pros & cons....genres are up to the liking and mood of the reader.....it has nothing to do with their "expectations" or intelligence........just because someone does not read manga in the seinen genre, doesn't mean that they cannot understand "philosophy", "politics", or "drama"....
also, have you actually read the description of your beloved seinen genre? well what do you know, the description stated that seinen included "Manga and anime that specifically targets young adult males around the ages of 18 to 25." what do you figure are mangas specifically targetting young boys around the ages of 18 and under? SHOUNEN.....i'm sorry, but do you really think people under the age of 18 most likely to care about "philosophy", "politics", or "drama"? does that mean that they'll "never understand the importance of realistic elements" like such listed above?

He's like Bizzaro-Daedalus, he ostracizes people for not liking Naruto. But really, you have a serious superiority complex or something. Just because you find more "advanced" subject matter more interesting doesn't mean that everything else is bad. For example, anyone who has grabbed a chapter of My Balls instead of Vagabond off of Strays site (by accident >_> ), you can instantly see that not all seinen manga is necessarily all about philosophy, or politics . An older demographic can like humor just as much as younger demographics. etc etc. 😀
Can't read >_<
I totally agree with what Cerulean and UberZombie said..

Noone would say naruto was overrated if it was far less popular. It's the popularety and fandom that seed haters. It's a natural thing. Haters 'cause of it's fame is the same as fans 'cause of it's fame. It may not deserve the hype, but why bother with it if you don't like it. Would you like the series you claim deserve more attention getting the same hype. If that was the case would you even like 'em in the 1st place?
If a series get less attention it's actually a good thing. No hype and no stupid complaints.

I'm not trying to change you oppinion or defend Naruto in any way. It's a few things with the series I don't like also... People tend to not like the time skip. They claim it got slower, and that the action is less creative etch. Naruto always been slow. And it's pretty obvius that the author avoids 2 similar fights. There are also other standard shounen elements he avoids (It still got plenty shounen though). Considering this the action is imo more creative now than in the beginning.
And Naruto actually never been real ninjaish. Ninjas were spies and assassins, not fighters. The "fighting-system" is just based on Ninja stuff. There are plenty of strategy in the fights, with exceptions of course. Actually the action is suprisingly much thought through, considering it is a shounen.
If I were to critizise Naruto, I would say it gives the impression if being deeper than what it actually is. It's too slow (not recently though). In a few cases things pop out from nowhere with no fundation considering story progression. And though the art is very creative and good it's not alway 100%. These things have alway been present though. No new phenomenons here! 😀 😎
phew long post 😛

Here is what I originally wanted to say:
"You still waste your time with this children book? People like you are to blame for the childish reputation of manga."
But I also think everyone has the freedom to read what he wants. My main advice to you is ** to give seinen manga a chance. Shonen series are only a small part of it. There are so many fascinating kinds of manga waiting for you. You only need to look around and to try less known series. **
