We didn't know the person, anyone involved with the person, and probably anyone who knew someone who was involves with the person. Hell in the time it takes me to write this message at the very least 100 children will have died of disease and starvation that could probably have been easily prevented, but I sure as hell can't spend time mourning every death or else I couldn't live my life. Given the fact that there is no real reason to personally mourn his loss, its not the end of the world to laugh at the way this person died (no, its not the most respectful thing to do, but I doubt 10% of the people not connected to this child’s death that heard about it didn't at the very least let out a nervous chuckle)(and if you are laughing simply because some random 10 year old died, regardless of the reason you need serious help).

The only thing that really gets me is the gall of some people here to bash the kids intelligence, and think that he would have died due to natural selection anyways. News flash people you probably did something almost as retarded as him when you where younger, just got away with it, I know I sure as hell did, multiple times at that (oh and fyi, I am most definatly not a member of the short bus). The kids death was an accident nothing more, a group of kids that were clearly not thinking (because I KNOW you can tell me EVERYTHING you did when you where younger was thought out) got a silly idea, and the mob mentality set in (mobs = morons, even if the members are intelligent themselves, its just the nature of the beast (see my sig)). Now, when an animal has it's head under water, and needs to bread, the instincts force the head out of the water, and humans are no exceptions. The kid with his head in the sand box is a similar case, in the moment that he felt a lack of oxygen, the instincts would have made him take the head out of the sand box.

That would have happened if the kid was conscious at the time, and no matter how young or stupid the kid was, the instincts would have made him fight for some air. It's not like the other kids used some heavy machinery to bury him in one go, the process should have been slow.

Another thing, have you noticed that the sand ninja are not even an important part of Naruto, and they never bury anyone alive, Gara covers them with his sand, he doesn't bury them, and that happened in one episode of like 400 that aired like 3 years ago........but those kids just felt to imitate that old unimportant episode at that time.....right....

Well said. Death of some distant random person, IMHO, is an issue that people say they care about, but in all real honesty, don't. To be perfectly honest, there's crap like the Darfur Genocide going on, but what's prevalent on my mind atm is whether one of the ongoing manga series I'm reading has been updated or not. But back on the topic of the dead boy and his friends, one would expect them to have some common sense, especially when the boy is thrashing around after a period of time. And as someone pointed out, those kids failed to recognize that Gaara kills with sand, he doesn't play with it. A blame could be put on the english adaptation of Naruto, having dumbed down the level of maturity in the situations in Naruto, but it'd just end up being an endless blame game that solves next to nothing.

The didn't like this Cody kid, coz he was kind of geeky, as you could see in the video, and they were some old fashion bullies, so the decided to get rid of him....permanently....

They took a a piece of fabric, ganged up on him, and suffocated him to dead, then they decided to bury the body in the sand box, so no one would ever find it, because really, with video games and stuff, who plays on sand boxes, right?

But while they were at it, another kid saw them, and he ran to Cody's parents, and told them what he saw, so they ran to the sand box, and found the kids burying his son.

One of the murderers liked Naruto, so he told Cody parents that they weren't burying his son, they were unburying him, because they were playing Naruto. He was Gara of the Funk, and Cody was Rock Lee.

The parents believed this story and didn't present charges.

The criminals are on the streets, probably killing another kid...as they saw it on Bleach....

I'm not saying that what was said in the video isn't true, I'm saying that without proof it's rude to go around saying stuff like one of his best friends may have had the intention to kill him.

Also, How is it possible that they don't even know how to say Naruto? As they said "a popular cartoon" yet not one of them can even say the main characters name. Also they saw it on youtube meaning they could have learned the actual pronounciation.

i mean, look like they described it: "disturbing images..." "records of kids buring their action figures..", and the convinient editing of those naruto vids, also adding the "so very loveble, best kid in the hood" background, and then "we broadcasted it bcuz the parents want you to know naruto buries your children."
here, insted of concentrating on the act of "kids killed theyr playmate" they make it "naruto told kids to kill theyr playmate".
my guess the whole thing was an act of pure stupidity or purew evil, or the kids lawyers found a "creative" way to take the blame of the dumbasses, while giving the local news station something to broadcast, since they dont have anything better to. even tho with this case, the fault lies with the children, i think the station deserves the blame.
