Every manga that masquerades as a potential new action/supernatural/drama/seinen/romance, before coming out of the closet in the 6th chapter as the mentor of the protagonist and the protagonist begin spooning.

I guess the first time I saw real hardcore guro hentai I was a little scarred by it. That stuff is pretty disturbing...
A non-H manga has never left me feeling scarred though.

o lawds! completely forgot about that but yes it was just just a constant wth?
hmmm not really affected by the gore at all elfen lied was the first one i saw of that extreme violence genre but after being taken aback at first it wasn't too bad and opened me up to berserk and similar mangas
id have to say that Ubel Blatt kinda weirded me out with the randomly placed sex scenes but nuthin really serious they were just like zomg epic battle and then whoa the lil dude is horny......
I completely agree with the im a bimbo-b**** rape me pls shoujo chicks hate club in the previous posts and id like to add some more to that list of evil shoujo:
Ayashi no Ceres- i mean cmon tooya was a flaming tool who barely talked and ended up
dying but their love is SO STRONG!!! (just threw up in my mouth) and i mean cmon yuhi was such a better match the guy saved her like every other day took care of her didnt force anything on here (like after tooya disappeared for awhile) and was just such a likable character (yes this manga scarred me for life and i dont know why)
Ren-ai Shijou Shugi-started out like oh typical whatever sappy romance ill kill some time reading this until i realized the whole plot is about how Seri, the main protagonist, screws anything that breathes (basically the epitome of a village bicycle) and her boyfriend puts up with it somebody slap that guy
Haru Yo Koi- this one raises the bar of the mind-f*** that happened with Ayashi no Ceres but then takes the bar and pummels all shoujo ive read into submission, and its not because of the girls in this one its because the guy is just.....well lets just say if I could beat the crap out of any manga character it would probably be him I mean he makes John Kerry's flip-flopping vote record look like catholic doctrine to the kind of things he pulls (School Days anyone?). and sorry the ending didnt make up for it (still scarred)
Kimi ga Nozomu Ein- dont know if this is a manga but its an anime I saw basically the same thing as Haru Yo Koi but with one of them in a coma
🤢
And just a follow-up about the idiot girl protagonists that can be found I also can't stand the male leads who have superiority complexes and think there the best thing since sliced bread and those dark mysterious that woo the protagonist but have crappy, cold personalities and even with a perfectly good guy (usually a childhood friend) gets completely pissed on even when he tries so hard....ugh
OK end of ranting and raving...haha im liking this thread oh btw im surprised no one said the Naruto time skip into shippuden the biggest let-down ever that has scarred me as well....

ok, i've still never been scared or anything by a manga, but i will give one credit for making me have a big "WTF?!?!?!" moment....
Thank you for mentioning this. It's the only manga I've tried that I stop reading midway through because it was just too disturbing. I don't even remember what it was about beyond the whole play one Little Red Riding Hood thing and I think my mind may have shut down that part of my memory on purpose.
I'm usually pretty thick-skinned though. Graphic violence doesn't really disturb me. The things that I suspect would scar me (guro, hardcore yaoi) I stay clear of.
Honestly, I think if something were to scar me, it'd have to 1. Happen to a character that I'm emotionally invested in; 2. Have some kind of psychological element beyond just violence; and 3. Be surprising.
I have been momentarily disturbed by a few mangas though like when Ryo bites off the big inmate's "male organ" in Shamo

Oh yeah. I had forgotten about that, though I'd have to say it was the anime for me.
I just really really really really wasn't expecting it more than anything. Had the 'wtf' factor more than any sort of scarring.
I still can't contemplate how the hell events lead up to that ending, or how some of the events even took place considering the characters' personalities at the beginning of the game/anime.

I think the only things that I've read that have been even slightly disturbing were the works of Matsumoto Jiro.

So, the manga that a lot of people have mentioned is Mai-chan no Nichijou. However, since there has been some mention of (how can I say this) child involvement, I said, "No thanks." So, instead, I went with another one of this guy's work, Miko to Yajuu (Death Panda). Um, how can I say this. It was... supremely, shockingly, and unbelievably disturbing. It didn't cause me to be like, "OMG! I'm done for the day" and shut myself from the computer. However, even now as I write this, there is still lingering memories of that awful manga and it is taking away enjoyment from things tha tI usually enjoy doing. I imagine it'll pass (just like memories of scary movies), but for now, it is just a disturbing part of my memory that is having lingering effects. If Mai-chan is even worse than that, I don't want to read it. Seriously, I don't want to offend anyone, but Guro is disgusting and I just don't see how a normal person can read that, regularly.
In a way I was asking for it. I had read many infamously violent manga (Ichi the Killer, Gantz, Elfen Lied, Battle Royale), but was never fazed by any of them. I wanted to finally read something that would do it for me, and I did. I regret reading it, and I will never read Guro again.
