no he doesn't. That's just rationalization.

The correct thing to do is to call the police. No matter who that person might be. She might be a rapist, yes. Or she might be a good doctor who saved hundreds of people from dying.

Also looks at it from another point of view. If it was you getting attacked. Wouldn't you want the people around you to at least try to call the police?

I remember one time when a friend of mine got beaten by 4 or 5 thugs with bats. They broke a couple of his bones because they found out he was gay. Of course all the bystanders just watched. They didn't even bother to call the police. He's the nicest person you would ever meet and these bystanders just pretended they saw nothing. They are the real cowards.

I feel somewhat distrubed by the amount of people who wouldn't even bother to cal lthe police.....it's the least you can do.......and you wouldn't get hurt in the process..... 🙁 I guess that's why things like this still happens to people.

If it were one attacker, maybe this would be the right thing, but all I, or most people, could do against a group is make them angry. Depends on how many thugs and if I was alone or not. If it was maybe two, I'd definitely try to help, but more than that... no, unless there is someone with me. I'm not biting off more than I can chew so that I can get killed or something.

I voted one but i would have done both 1 & 2 probably - that and it is not like i would go and just fight several guys empty handed - i would def have at least a makeshift weapon to beat some ass

Seconded. In most cases rushing in like an idiot and trying to fight the attackers off would be the worst thing you could do. You'd just end up getting your ass kicked by thugs who outnumber you and are in all likelihood more experienced and better at fighting than you. And that's assuming they aren't armed. At best you'd just land yourself in a world of hurt while angering them, making things worse for the victim. At worst you'd get you and her killed.

This isn't an anime. The sad fact is that in such a situation where you're on foot and the only one around, there really isn't anything you can do to help the victim in most cases. You can and should call the police, but they aren't going to get there in time, and aren't obligated to help anyway. The best you can hope for is to draw their attention away if you think you're fast enough, or help identify the attackers when they're done.

The question is silly to begin with.

It happens, and i was assuming it wasn't really gender specific...but i guess it was.

@Tps, yea, the panda guy actually has a point, i tend to rationalize things to try and make myself feel better about the choices i make.

but, it still doesn't change that i could be helping a rapist/murderer or something like that.
