To the forum community tick me off when they ask for suggestions or make a generic introduction thread. It seems that 90% of all topics in the forum consist of the same boring 'i'm looking for' thread that has been done to death, or the generic intro thread of people who make that their sole post.
Do people who do not contribute annoy you?

Kinda it just seems they waste their time with making an account.

not not really, but the "i'm looking for" threads are a little out of hand imo.

It's that way for most places that offer information services...Not like you can MAKE people contribute that much. And no, we're not gonna make it so that you need to make x amount of posts before you can use the Looking For forum or whatever...

I wasn't insinuating that. But to be completely honest, there are thousands of 'i'm looking for' threads that cover most of the requests. That's why the 'search forums' function is there. Also, if a person DOES post, the forumites will have a better grasp on their personality, therefore making better suggestions. It's win-win.
I'm not saying that 'zomg, there should be rules to make someone (insert whatever)', but it seems people don't use the forum to it's full potential. I mean, about 60%+ of the forum post are made by less than 10% of the registered members (just a gross estimate).
I could enumerate a whole comprehensive gripes, but then again, I'm just a whiner.

Well... I was just a lurker for a while.
Only became a forum regular since I "semi-retired" from work.
I've got nothing against people asking for manga titles or recommendations.... I myself have done it 2 or 3 times.
I'd rather see someone ask a question and disappear than tolerate someone who constantly posts the same welcome message (the monkey-avatar dude) or Gintama/Vampire Knight spam.
As for introduction threads.... I've never actually introduced myself, so I dunno what to think.... if I made myself an intro thread, it might be just as generic or worse.
The other thing is.... I'm a member of a few other sites where I've made no forum contribution whatsoever (I have donated cash occasionally).... So it'd be hypocritical of me to bash non-contributors here.
Just my 2 cents.

No, not really.
They don't contribute thus you don't notice them that often. xD
...
Perhaps that only applies for me.

Yeah they do really annoy me. Also people who get a little TOO into criticizing things that other people post about.

I don't really mind the non posters. They are pretty much just harmless lurkers anyway. Besides, it's better to have sole post intro threads than the spam monkey 1337 posters.

I don't mind lurkers. And I am a spam monkey. All I'm saying is the forum is boring if 90% of the traffic is intros and I'm Looking For's that cover the same thing (i.e. 'i need a yaoi, I need an ecchi, i need a blah blah blah) that's been done a million times. If you are going to do something make it original and specific to you.
And I usually recognize most of the people who have made at least 1 quality post.
