Has anyone noticed something odd? Hyuuga Hinata is one of the most popular female characters in Naruto (regularly making top 10 polls in Japan and ranking only behind Sakura) but Kishimoto has practically written her out of the story. I took a head count: she has only appeared on 2 pages since the timeskip (not counting chapter title pages) and both of those were in chapter 282 when Naruto ran into her team (even then the chapter spent more time on Kiba and Shino). Although I'm aware that Shino and Kiba haven't appeared apart from then either, at least they contributed significantly to the first half of the series.

If you think about it, Hinata was one of the most irelevant characters in the first half of the series too. She had a few minor appearances throughout the first 2 stages of the Chuunin Exam, had her big time in the spotlight during the preliminaries (which consisted of her getting the living crap beaten out of her) and gave Naruto some small encouragement before the finals, before passing out right before what SHOULD have been a very important moment for her (seeing Naruto defeat Neji). After that, she only appears on one page ( a single panel in chapter 172) until Naruto's departure at the end of part 1.

Given Tenten played a noteworthy part in the 'Rescure Gaara' arc, Hinata has now suceeded for the title of "most underused character", DESPITE her strong popularity among fans and clear role as Naruto's love interest. I've come to the conclusion that Kishimoto simply doesn't like her and regrets ever writing her into the series. When you consider how much work Pierrot put into her during the filler arcs of the anime, it seems that he's the only one who thinks this way and DAMN it is odd. And irritating; I like Hinata.

though honestly i haven't been following naruto for a while so i'm not sure what's going on

i think her popularity is due more to her personality and character rather than her role in the storyline and that although she doesn't seem to contribute much to the story she is the kind of side character nobody can dislike

I think most people like her for her underdog status, and secretly wish that Naruto would wise up and notice her, but they are all forgetting this is a shounen fighting series, in which romance is always seriously downplayed, if it exists at all.

I love hinata too. I don't think he's forgotten about her completely. Remember there's still plenty of story left to go and I suspect we'll see more of her once things settle down. Other than that you could write complaint letters to kishimoto. Haha 🤣

i <3 hina too (i seriously expected my chracter test to turn out to be hinata)
but like luisalirio84 said, theres still plenty of time to go, the kiba/hina/shino team will probably appear to help out naruto's cell eventually. it seemed like she matured a little (just a little as demonstrated by her reaction to seeing naruto lol) during the time skip so i doubt her team will stand not helping out naruto

lol i forgot to add, im also one of those people that are all for Hinata x Naruto...woot! 😀

I love Hinata's white eyes and her blushing
Many things add to the liking of Hinata for example the voice they gave her in the anime even though i dont know about the japanese voice

The seiyuu for hinata is also the voice actress on another anime called KIBA where she plays the lead female. I agree with you she has a really cute voice. Speaking of cute voices the voice actress for the lead girl in sumomo mo momo also has an annoyingly cute voice. imo 😛

Tenten getting more parts isn't really so much about Kishimoto liking her more than the fact that he chose to use Gai's team that included Neji and Lee.

Though I do agree that most people like Hinata because of how much she contributes to the story but her character. All the anime obsessed guys like how she's so cute and her unique eye color while girls like her because they can... I suppose sympathize with her situation? I dunno a lot of quiet, somewhat dark types and outcast types like manga.

However I'm not sure that Kishimoto hates Hinata, I don't think he particularly cares for any female in the Naruto series. Sure he gives Sakura attention but that mainly has to do with the fact that she is the leading female. Tsunade and Sakura, he probably likes due to how yanki and gyaru they are. xD

It is amazing how Hinata can be a cute, shy, and quiet girl, yet not feel like an H-game archetype.

We complained and we got what we wanted although it's just a coincidence. lol. The new chapter includes hinata's team so finally we'll get to see more hinata in the next few chapters. Yayyyyyyy!!!!!!!!! Kawaii 😛
