Well, I'll be dipped in batshit. I never would have seen it coming; in fact when they said they'd chosen another team, I was just trying to work out if it was Shikamaru's team or Gai's team again.
And technically, I'm trying to understand the justification for bringing them along (aside from "it's their turn"). You'd think they'd be the team LEAST suited for taking on Akatsuki members (especially Itachi and Kisame) since Gai's team have fought Kisame before (and Gai is very good at fighting Itachi without falling prey to doujutsu) and Shikamaru's team proved their worth against Hidan and Kakuzu. But, as I mentioned, it IS Hinata and co's turn now, so (as usual) logic and practicality takes a backseat to convenience.
Mind you, I'm not exactly complaining- I wanted to see Hinata back as much as anyone, if not more. I just feel that Kishimoto could have brought her back into the story WITHOUT resorting to the cliche "her team is needed for the NEXT mission" thing. When was the last time we saw these ninjas off-duty actually having a real life? (OK, so it was Team 7 at Ichiraku only a couple of chapters ago.) I'm not anticipating she'll get a lot of serious character development, what with this being a mission and that.
Interesting to note that, as with the last mission, Kakashi is heading up the other team, since Kurenai is obviously out of it for the next few months.
And I have to say, on an unrelated note, that stuff with Sasuke and the ninja cats was outright stupid and badly out of character.

Firstly I can see some good reasons for bringing them:
a. Shikamaru's team has been through a lot lately
b. Although Shikamaru is a brilliant strategist I don't think strategy will be nearly enough for this mission
c. Inoue vs hinata (no comparison) Choji vs. Kiba (I'd go with Kiba although I like chouji)
d. Gai is the complete opposite (no strategy just brawn) lee (same) tenten(useless) neji (I think that hinata may have surpassed him- just an inkling I got)
e. Hinata's team provides a wider variety and a better balance in terms of power and strategy and if kiba and shino have gotten alot stronger which I suspect they have then they are probably the most powerful team of the three surpassing lee's team well excluding gai but his obnoxiousness cancels himself out lol/
Think about it which team always worked well together and used each others abilities? Remember the forest in the chuunin exams?
Shino's bugs have tons of uses so those hinata's byakugan and kiba and akamaru have mad tracking skills not too many people realize kiba was actually pretty strong. Plus more hinata whether he develops her character or not I'm just happy she'll get some appearances. Remember most mangakas have the whole story line plotted out so this was planned so it must be for a reason.

yah shino's intelligence is pretty much up there with shikamaru's, and like lui said kiba and hina are probably the best trackers which they will most likely need to find itachi. plus...shes cheek-pinching cute...who cares why shes in the story but for the fact that she is lol

That is probably NOT possible... remember Neji is now a Jounin, while she is still a chuunin. Yeah I know Ninja ranks don't say all... like naruto and sasuke are still officially only genins. But for this particular situation I think we can safely use it as an indicator.
Anyway, I was surprised to see ninja cats lol... Go ninja kittens!! (And make them 10 times stronger than the other summons! Nothing can beat the cuteness of a kitten!! Nothing!!!)
And yeah, Shino's theam should probably provide some good stuff... But let's stay on topic:
Hinata!! well she was only there for 1 panel and a half... (with that half panel being exactly the same pose she was in the first one...)
I kinda like Hinata... And I always cheer for the girl that I feel that her feelings will never get through... But I still didn't get into fits of crazed fangirlism. There was nothing special to see in this chapter...

Actually because of hinata's nature she's not the best choice for a jounin but I have a really strong inkling that hinata surpasses sakura(again) and neji(i'm talking technique and latent power). Remember Hinata was originally the main house succesor althought that doesn't necessarily mean anything I think she had more potential than neji but neji was more driven and also her personality and she's a late bloomer. The question is did she finally reach her true potential. If she did I think she most likely surpassed her cousin 😛 😛 😛
Inever said anything was super great about this chapter it's just that it gives us a preview of something to look forward to and I think it will be great and hinata will prove you totally wrong when she blows you away with her killer skills. Now that sounds like fangirlism. Moe. kawaii 😛

i think hinatas power is gonna really be surprising, i see the relationship b/w her and neji kinda like the one with naruto and sasuke so hopefully she'll tap some crazy potential she has
i doubt shikamaru's team would be good against itachi anyway, strategy doesnt work so amazing if you get caught in his crazy a genjutsu

I think hinata's new powers will be asome maybe there are going to be like the ones on the anime version that facinated me so much. Ofcourse she will not have 360° full protection.
At least one of her attacks should be a copy of Naruto's home made ninjitsus

lol hinata sexy no jutsu would make me lmao 🤣 but seriously, i dont know about having her copy naruto's jutsu's. first off, their styles are radically different (naruto just busts stuff up while both hyugas attack the chakra network). plus, theres not much she can copy unless she plans on doing something like the rasengan 😛 they still have yet to reveal what "that" jutsu of naruto's is (still waiting on him to pull off some crazy move with it)
speaking of her fighting style, itll probably be very helpful against both akatsuki and hebi as it can seal off their chakra which they seem to rely on heavily...(maybe she can hit all 64 tenketsu now like neji 😕 )
PS: Someone get on those doujin...Now...

I think the "that" jutsu that you're referring to is simply the Fuuton Rasen Shuriken. You must have missed something.
I don't think it's at all plausible to believe that Hinata is stronger than Neji now in the sense that he'd probably still beat her in a fight. But Hinata's strengths are different from Neji's (aside from the Byakugan of course) and she's by nature less aggressive. The problem is how to clarify her strengths without referring to the filler in the anime (which is probably considered non-canon) but I imagine Kishimoto has SOMETHING lined up for her.
No comment regarding the h-doujin. Although didn't Hinata use a variant on Sexy no Jutsu in one of the extra strips at the end of one of the chapters? (I looked for it, but couldn't find it)

am I the only one to think that Masashi's running out of ideas and just throwing crap together week after week now?...
the best team to support team kakashi against itachi and kasame would indeed be either gai or shikamaru's team, considering they do have binding/raw power to capture those two.
kiba, shino, and hinata isn't exactly a capture team, tracking, great at it, but so is kakashi. So the only good quality of the team is already overlapping with another member, weak inclusion...
the only part about that team making any sense would be shino, considering genjutusu doesn't work on bugs (or so they've said...), so that would give them some resistance against itachi. Still, kisame is still way stronger for kiba and hinata, yamato's fine but yeh....
Although I do agree that Hinata might one day surpass Neji in techniques but not in destructive power. She has more room to grow since Masashi hasn't done that much with her talents yet whereas Neji's pretty much set in stone for his style and attacks.
but really, they should rename this series to Sasuke, the naruto side of the story is getting rather boring...Naruto's still a dunce, he'll never realize how Hinata feels...wasted 2 years so he can go berserk and learn another jutsu in a week...

Hmm when kakashi summons those ninja dogs sometimes some big ones are between them as well. Maybe there is yet a ninja-lion are -tiger to appear 😀

Actually if I remember correctly (and I hope I do) you're referring to right after the time change when jiraya says to naruto "don't use that jutsu". In the anime that line is translated as "don't use that power, chakra". So I actually think in both manga as anime they were just referring to the Kyuubi's power.

yah that was actually what i was referring to, and its quite possible that they were referring to the kyuubi's power but at that point i don't think naruto was aware of the dangers of his kyuubi form with a 4th tail...therefore im still hoping for another jutsu from it 😀
