I second Karin and Hoshi no Samidare and add Blame!.
The ending for blame left me so unsatisfied. It didn't feel like an ending.

Quote from Elrohon

Ginen Shounen when the love interest of the main character said that she was going out with another guy... and she said this to the main character... I was pissed beyond belief and admittedly cried for a while and I couldnt get it out of my head for 3 weeks 🤢

Edit: Oops, I missed 'once completed part'... but these are my true feeling so far^ (since its ongoing)

Lol even though it doesn't fit the thread I felt that way to. I didn't cry, but got on my knees, screamed noooo! and tried(and failed) to rip my t-shirt like the hulk

Omg! I seriously cried on that part and felt as if a piece of my heart was forcibly ripped out from me. My mind was blank and the fact that she is going out with that a**hole, well I just couldn't process it.

Not exactly a series, but for me, it was Hotarubi no Mori E. Stories 2 and 4 left a very deep scar on my heart, which took several days to heal because I couldn't stop thinking about them. Both were beautiful to read, but became very painful by the end. I cried to the point of sniffling because their pain felt so incredibly real to me. 🙁

I second Vampire Juujikai but also Kiseijuu and Akumetsu. However, definitely the biggest void was left by Hikaru no Go.

Why would this happen? I mean the joy of rereading is not the same but just as great as reading a series for the first time. Harry Potter was great enough for me to feel sad when it was over, but I enjoy it just as much every time I read it. I imagine the same will happen with One Piece which I really enjoy.

I am the fire that burns against the cold, the light that brings the dawn, the horn that wakes the sleepers, the shield that guards the realms of men. I pledge my life and honor to the Night's Watch, for this night and all the nights to come.

For me it's the knowledge that now the story is completed, meaning I will no longer be able to see the characters as they continue to live in their fictional worlds.

🤣 🙄 You have quite unique reaction here 😀 .
If I like the series all along, I'll wait until the end.
Sometimes I read the ending after some first chapters, that's when I have no patience for the series, I just want to know how it ends.

Nodame Cantabile really broke my heart. The end was rushed and opera hen seems ok but not enough romance!

I do this all the time with novels, and mangas hit me in the same way. Full metal alchemist i luckily only picked up the week before the last chapter was released, so i think i saved myself from some pain there.

But other than that Solanin has honestly made me mourn... and Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou was just so amazing that i dare not read it again just because i might spoil the old experience. I find that seinen and slice of life mangas stay with me longer than shounen, probably because of the content.

"a piece of you had died" is extreme for my situation, but the ending to onani master kurosawa hurt me a little; even so, it was a realistic ending and it was better than something forced.
