I've been searching far and wide for a manga where the shoujo heroine surprisingly doesn't choose the main male love interest as the one she wants to be with in the end.

So, I have a few examples such as Uwasa no Midori-kun!! Hirunaka no Ryuusei and maybe something kinda like Parfait Tic! but honestly the weak and unconfident females kinda annoy me and what I like about these shoujo mangas is that the heroine usually does a great deal of growing up by choosing a new love and moving on, rather than being a cry-baby like character, leading on a second potential love and then running back to the main douchebag guy who has hurt her so many times but it's okay cause every cliche shoujo gets a happy ending no matter how awful the characters are right?

Yeah if there is any shoujo you could recommend that happens to have a plot where there is a decent male who the heroine picks rather than the asshole popular guy that would be great, thankyou

EDIT; I realise I may have posted this in the wrong topic, I'm sorry!

It's not just romance but Principal by Ikuemi Ryo is one that fits the bill. The relationships mature realistically, and it will cause as much laughter as heartache. Hope you'll give it a try.

First rec is not that surprising, but Kimi no Neiro has the main girl work hard to get closer to typical popular guy, but ends up falling for the crossdressing Neiro by the end.

Second rec actually came as a surprise, which was a let down for people who were hoping to see what the story was actually selling at the beginning (Kanojo ni Naritai Kimi to Boku, that set up a potential romance between a girl and a trans girl), but she ends up with a guy she meets in the middle of the story.

Unfortunately, none of them fit your criteria of an immature female character growing up and getting over an asshole first male interest. The final guy in Kimi no Neiro IS kind of a jerk, more so than Popular Boy #1 and Kanojo ni Naritai only kind of fits, but just in the sense of her getting over her crush, her trans friend was a sweetheart.
