Perosonally, I prefer yuri, but I don't hate yaoi. I normally don't like yaoi cause its just....bleh I guess. My bro like yaoi, but I KNOW he is straight and I'm a girl but I guess I'm so use to girls hugging and stuff I don't find it weird anymore...on the other hand I barely ever see guys hugging and when they do its a dare. I have only met like two gays in my life. Personally, yuri is totally preferable but yaoi is great too, depending on the plot though.

@ares6: How is that bias? You stated it is as a fact not as an opinion. But it doesn't require much common sense to get the gist of what you meant. I somewhat agree with KennEH! that this topic is biased.

@thezombieking (and many others): Compared, the 2 of em are pretty much the same (except the obvious). The main difference is the overwhelming amount of yaoi compared to yuri. I'm not talking 'bout hentai.

Thats very true, i am prolly a bit biased, since in my search for manga, i deal with alot more Yaoi than Yuri, but ultimently(sp?) it comes down to the plot, for me, if its not a good plot, then its not worth it.

Well, most yuri tends to just be mindless, meaningless sex and fanservice (prime example being the h-manga Vanity Angel where both of the girls are staight but for some ridiculous reason they have sex and makeout regularly) but occasionally you get serious drama (Strawberry Panic, Kashimashi) and even action (Burst Angel, Kannazuki no Miko). Then there are shojo-ai stories that include light elements of yuri (Shinobuden, Oni-Gokko, To-love-ru).

Not saying that yaoi doesn't get just as raunchy for no reason but most yaoi seems to be tame in content and more about true romance (it's aimed at females so "sex, sex, and more sex" as a plot just won't cut it).

That being said I'm an 18 yr. old male so I'm going to have to go w/ the choice that involves the most naked women. 😃

I only seem to like Yaoi in doujinshi format. Anything else just makes me go "...eh..."

I do read random yuri and can usually enjoy it if the art and plot are done nicely (which together can be rather rare though ZAOU Taishi does it nicely IMO).

Nope, I chose the nick for another reason: simply 'cos I liked the ring of it. 🙂 But of course, I didn't realise it also referred to shoujo-ai/lesbian relationships. 🤣
