well, i can't say I hate yuri... I find that yuri hentai is just not nearly as hot as lesbian porn for some reason... And I don't like when either of these genres get too softcore and lovey-dovey... ugh, I hate that...

if i had to pick, I'd say I like yaoi over yuri. I've just seen more yaoi that I've liked shrugs

Haha. It's true that if you don't like things too softcore and lovey-dovey you'd prefer yaoi. Weird how yaoi is total smut, while yuri often seems very shoujo in nature.

As far as I know it is a term used primarily for lesbianism...I had to confirm with wiki (even though I knew perfectly well its meaning)
