are you speaking of historical worlds that are made up by the mangaka?
If so, I guess a few that are 'historical-ish'- but also have fantasy elements might be vampire game and Arcana. saver and operation liberate men might also qualify a little if you don't mind the main characters travelling to other worlds.
errr... the suggestions may be way off from what you're looking for, but hopefully they are alittle useful.

Not what i'm looking for, but thank for posting
I'm looking for manga with roots in our history, but the events that happen are different. If that makes sense...
If I can expand it, I'm also looking for a manga about a historical figure

You're looking for manga where the world's history is the same as earth's to a certain point, but eventually splits at that certain point, right? Some sort of alternate timeline, hypothetical manga?

yes, this is what i'm looking for. I'd be more interested in the hypothetical manga though.

Sadly, there really aren't enough of these around.
A personal favorite of mine is the movie of Kumo no Mukou, Yakusoku no Basho, but the manga hasn't been scanlated at all. The basic premise has Japan divided similar to Korea after WWII.
I guess pieces of Code Geass originally did fit the bill, but it's so distorted by the mecha and supernatural bits that it's not the focus.
Vagabond technically has a basis in reality, but how much is up to debate. I believe Historie does as well, but I'm pretty poor when it comes to that region's history.
I'm sure there are more, but I can't remember any at the moment. I'll post again when I do.

Well I could sugest Zipang. Although I haven't read it. I have watched only the anime, but anime was pretty awsome (at least when they didn't whine about smth.).
