I've read one in the novel style and that was enough. Doujinshis are another story, I've read a little over one hundred.

I just started reading fanfics. But it's really just because there are so many more fanfics than there are doujins. There are a lot of pairings that don't have any scanlated doujin and yet there are pages of fanfics of them. So yeah.

I prefer doujins though~

This is how I am. Very few of the fanfics I read are actually good. And for most of them it's either the fanfic writer making a certain pairing that would only work if the characters themselves go through character derailment, or they inject a Mary Sue/Marty Stu-type character that's obviously supposed to be them into the story. 🙄

Sometimes it's annoying to read the summaries which are so 'fluffish' and the fic is horribly written!

Some of the worst.....unrealistic and off-characterised fanfics are....

Some Dragonball fanfic bout Trunks being sent to hell to help with transporting some major villians, he meets King Vegeta there. It was a good theme BUT, OMg...the conversations were horribly written and so..'off'......

and then there's this BADLY written horrible Lisa X Bart simpson INCEST fanfic

and recently, I've been reading some Poke'mon fanfics on some romance story on Giovanni and lolz, it's as if there's no POKE'MON ever mentioned in some of the fics!

BUT there are some very good fanfics..

ONEPIECE

There's this really good onepiece fanfiction bout Nami getting knocked up during a one night stand (when they all get drunk) **I FIRST THOUGHT **it would be a boring fanfic but OMG! there's practically no 'fluffy' pairings in the fic, it's more focused on Onepiece's concept of Nakama supporting each other..and there's even ADVENTURE!! It's very very REALISTIC! the Ending is very good too! The author gave three different possible endings (on the possible fathers- Zoro, Sanji or Luffy) when baby Nyoko was born..

And then there's a very well-characterised onepiece fanfic bout Mihawk and him having a wife. It's as if it was written by Oda himself!

and there's a story bout Vivi and Corsa (a very good one) and the history of Alasbasta after the rebellion.

and a very short but MEMORABLE fic of what 'onepiece' actually is and what is the meaning of 'Will of D'.

DRAGON BALL

There's a very realistic fanfic about an alternate world where Trunks was born as a slave and Bra was the Saiyan Princess.

There's also a good fic about Trunks telling Bra a bedtime story related to their parents. XD

and then there's a VERY GOOD Vampire knight fanfic written by my Lovely Irene! I'm one of her BETA for her fanfic and DAAAMN proud of her!

Her fic focuses on the dark..incestuous nature of the Kuran family.. The fanfic is called 'Kingdom of the nine orchids'.
I LOVE LOVE that fanfic. I srsly do.

Yeah, I occasionally do when I'm bored. It's sometimes hard to find a good one though. I wish I could write them, too.

GAH! My plot doesn't bend that way!

I don't any more. But I used to read plenty of it, very often. It gets dull after a while, and lot of writers really aren't that good, its not worth looking through fifty stories just to find one semi-decent one.

I read too much fanfiction for my own good. Mostly yaoi ones from Naruto 😀 I do wish some weren't very OC or on crack. I write some of my own but I'm lazy and writing yaoi is sometimes complicated (if you know what i mean 😉 )
I'm addicted to this site even if some stories are repetitive, I'll always find new ones. Long live SasuNaru fanfics that dominate over all the other possible pairings, especially SasuSaku and NaruSaku 😁

Fanfiction is just plain awkward for me, somehow.
And I can't stand the massive amounts of badly written fanfic, in bright pink font, that one must wade through to find something decent about any other topic than currently popular books/movies/anime etc.
And dj are so often just slash pairings, which I don't care for much.

I do. Around 4 years I estimate?
But now I'm starting to migrate towards reading FictionPress~

Used to read a lot of fanfics, mainly for Final Fantasy, gave up on fanfics in general for many reasons. One, because of the many OOC-ness. Two, I am just as impatient with fics as I am with manga releases; breaks my soul when an author decides to discontinue a story, this had more to do with it then anything else. T~T

I used to write as well, but now I only focus on original fics. ;3

Ohh, but I do remember a favorite fic of mine from the FF fandom. A fic where Sephiroth has a daughter. Was really good, but stopped reading it when the author decided to stop writing. .__.
