I'd ask them "Why would you say that?" But if they just think it's stupid for no absolute reason, then I guess I wouldn't really care. They're entitled to their own opinion after all, and I love manga, so whether they like it or not makes no difference to me.

Generally my friends make just jibe me once so often that i like jap comics (that's manga for em 😐 ). And I usually laugh and say its way better than most movies. If they are genuinely interested to find appeal in manga i tell em to read something like death note, monster, berserk, gantz etc. Most of those who have tried one of these are now regular Manga readers. Majority don't and that's cool with me, cause I never really watch the movies they recommend me.

However this one guy was there a huge twilight/Glee fan, was too irritating was poking me too frequently that i read black n white comics like a retarded 10 year old. My fuse just blew one day, and I called him a faggot whose fantasy is to be sodomized by a walking corpse, and we got into a fight, I got a cut above my left eye, cut around my lower jaw and a fractured thumb, and he got two fractured ribs and a smashed nose. Don't get me wrong I ain't a homophobic and neither was he a gay, just that stupid shit happened when we were both high in a party but the initial cause was over manga 😛

I would smack them in the face with said manga and if they keep on saying that, I'll tell them that they're outnumbered by the numerous manga/comic books and anime/cartoon fans in the school. Hmph. ;3

Well, this would never happen because I make friends through anime and manga. So they at least acknowledge and accept anime and manga. So... yeah.

Agreed, every time I see a good anime or read a great manga, I wonder how people could hate them when they are just as good as some books....I mean they don't even give it a chance. At the end of the day, when I'm enjoying a good anime or manga, its their loss not mine

My friends could complain about a **lot **of other, weirder things about me than an interest in foreign graphic novels. 😐

Anyone else who comments would just get 'the stare' before I started to laugh at them. People are free to dislike my personal interests and I am free to dislike theirs.

I suppose to each his own? .. I am too ancient to have friends like that and even my parents (who are grandparents now) don't bug me on my interests.

I think as long as its not illegal and its an interest, it should not matter what anyway says about it, if they cannot appreciate it, its one thing. Why condemn it? Are all their pursuits and interests "not stupid?"

We all grow up one day and very often its interests and passion that makes the most successful guys out there 🙂

Heck it... I love what I love and all my good friends (those that lasted and are trustworthy) all appreciate our differences, interests and passions, afterall thats what friends should be like. 🙂
