OK, two more for you. One of the stories in Swan Lake

is about a girl who's in a relationship with her cousin (which seems to be acceptable), but she discovers that he's actually her half brother. The girl was born from her mother's affair with the mother's sister's husband, so you've got double incest, yay~

I don't know if you want to get into novels, but I just finished Kafka on the Shore by Murakami Haruki, in which

the 15-year-old protagonist has a sexual relationship with the woman he believes to be the mother who abandoned him when he was four years old. She knows he thinks he's her son, and she would know if it was true or not... Another character also knows about his suspicions and his affair, and it's no big deal. I think that she actually is his mother, though it's never 100% clearly stated. (He also seems to be some kind of reincarnation of her first love (who is not his father), the whole thing is interesting but quite confusing.) This is a mainstream novel, btw, a "national bestseller" according to the cover. I found it rather disturbing, but none of the characters in the book seemed to be too bothered by it! 🤢

Old Boy manga contains no incest, but Old Boy movie probably does. That's it.

😀

EDIT: still looking for another confirmation that the manga Old Boy contains no incest. It really seems hard to believe, because it is a very important part on which much of the story rests in the movie

I stumbled into this manga called Lost Child. It is shounen-ai manga by Abe Miyuki, the story is about brothers who fall in love with his twin. Like most of shounen-ai manga, it focused more towards the development of the characters.

PS: If you're familiar with shounen-ai manga, Abe Miyuki also wrote/drew another manga called "Komatta Toki ni wa Hoshi ni Kike". I highly recommend this manga 😃

Yes, and considering that most of us live in America, it is illegal. 😀

I love how people like to google stuff and "define" it to me, when I already know the definition.

The questioning of whether or not a releationship between two cousins is incest is a ludicrous argument, anyways. It is incest, plain and simple.

Arguing the point any further is moot.

Now, let us return to the main topic.

I agree with the first point, but my argument is that incest is actually a social term whose exact definition depends on the culture you're relating it to (or legal, in which case it depends on the set of laws you're working with).

I don't know exactly what the paper the OP wants to write is, but it could be an important point to consider: that Japanese might not consider sexual relations between cousins to be incest.

And the definition of "family" is also rather unspecific. Immediate biological family? Do more distant relations (ie. second or third cousins) count? And what about step-siblings?

Has anyone mentioned BokuImo?

Boku wa Imouto ni Koi wo Suru is one of my favorite manga of all-time. Shoujo-Magic scanlated a little bit of it (I think you'd be happy seeing as much as they did), but only about 20%. I think it has 10 volumes. I only own the last three, and it isn't and probably wont ever be licensed, so that's that.

But this January, the live-action BokuImo movie came out, so I was hoping a group would pick up where S-M left off and finish this series. It's honestly very sweet. Also, I believe Bisco Hatori (for any rabid fans of hers) is a BokuImo fan.

I never post here, but I saw this thread... I'm a huge fan of brother/sister incest, and I only like it when it's more than gratuitous sex. Koi Kaze is also one of my all-time favorite manga and anime. The BokuImo OVA is really great, even though it mostly focuses on stuff from Volume 1 of the manga.

Sorry if this is repeating what someone else said.

Also, I forgot to mention.

BokuImo is about twins (brother/sister). About one volume is dedicated to them discovering their feelings, and the rest of it surrounds how the two deal with it.

It's particularly awesome when they have to confront their parents.

EDIT: don't double post, edit your previous post.

Yes, Boku wa Imouto has been mentioned several times. It is a good series, however (and unfortunatly), Shoujo Magic has dropped it.

Try your library, that's where I found it (and quite a few more by Murakami). 😀 If that doesn't work out, I'm sure bookstores can get it.

I think this is a bit incest...

Lady Georgie

It's just about 2 brothers who love their sister but thought it was just siblings love. Once the 3 discovered the truth about her being not blood related to them they notice that they do love her truthfully..

sorry that no scanlator had scanlated it and the original scanlator is officially dead.... T_T

But they aren't related so can it be considered incest? Personally I think not. A lot of Japanese manga have stories where characters are either married and become brother/sister and have relationships, or find out that they were never related so now they are free to act.
