Manga.. I thought that was the right way to pronounce it.

I always pronounce it manga, I thought monga was the incorrect way....cause I heard from that in Chinese comic is like Manhua. And in korean, it's like Manhwa or something......so I was like eh, if two out of the three is "mAn", then there's no way the third one is "mOn"

Some people say manga sounding exactly the same as the word for mango, which can bring some misunderstanding... but I make it sound a little differente in the last a

Even the way to pronounce 'manhua' is different to 'manga' XD (it needs to have a correct tone). If you ask me, the poll makes everything rather confusing since 'monga' (Monday) is the right way to say it but wrong way to spell it XD But if you read 'monga' the way it's supposed to be said in Japanese, it's totally wrong DX (もんが O__O)

It's not the 'mon' from monday. 😮 That would be munga. It's the 'mon' from Mongolian. Pronounced like 'mah-n-gah' (that's the way I pronounce it, anyways). Wikipedia has a sound file of how to pronounce it. You can listen here.

I don't know anyone that pronounces manga as "monga/mahnga/man-ga" or any other way than this:
Mang (rhymes with hang) guh (like the "gu" in "gut" )
It's said with an American accent because I'm in America...
Anyway, that's the common pronunciation amongst the few people I have talked about manga with.
I should call it "mongo." Like "bongo" with an "m."

The Chinese/Korean stuff I don't even try to pronounce.
But really, just based on phonetics, wouldn't "Manhua" and "Manhwa" be pronounced the same? I would pronounce them the same way... Is there something I'm missing?
Also, wouldn't the Chinese stuff vary amongst different dialects (Cantonese, Mandarin...) like other words?

I don't really care about how the japanese pronounce it, it's not like I talk about manga with japanese people that often...

people try to correct me both ways...
so i gave up pronouncing it correctly
