Monga? LOL, romanji from hari: Ma n ga <- All though i don't actually pronounce it that way.
I pronounce it english way, even if i know it's wrong ^^ [Men-gah] Just because the only time I actually talk about manga is only when I need to explain to people I am reading a manga ..;; and not "oh that japanese thing..?" 😛 So pronouncing it in english way would get them to understand what I'm saying.. at least that's what I think ..;
And, i'm used to the english way hahaha
LOL i do the same thing! the japenese way sounds weird _ and im used to saying it the english way 😛 well i say it Man-ga. Though some of my friends who ocsianally read it say it the other way...
Me> "ooh i read that man-ga!"
Friend "wait?what?! ohh you mean "Mon-ga"" though hes japenese so....
personally i dont give a flip how i pronounce it~ 😛 esp. since no one seems to know how its supposed to acutally be pronounced XD

And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then he dies having never really lived."- Dalai lama

I pronounce it the Japanese way. It's hard not to when you are learning Japanese. xD

Used to pronounced as "main-gah" before I started learning Japanese. Then I found out how much I butchered Japanese pronunciation and phrase cause I was weaboo at the time.
Now, it's proper now since I do that all the time now. And other people call it comic books -.-''

"Monga" like they proununce it at the beginning of Manga Entertainment Anime videos. About 15 or so years ago, I used to ignorantly pronouce it Mag-na, but nobody who knew better caught me doing it before I realized my mistake. 😉

Mmm but why in anime shows, they say "mAnga"? o.o''' I always watch anime fansubbed (so, original japanese dub), and NEVAR, for the life of me, heard of "mOnga" 😲
@Accipiter: GREAT sig 🤣

I never talk about manga, so it is rarely in my conversation ever, but mentally, I say it like "mango" with an a. 🤣
And I don't give a flying shit who criticizes me for it. 😐
Same with me. I dunt say it as Maanga for sure >.>
Forever lurking...
I know it's pronounced ma-n-ga but I still say manga.

Manga sounds pretty much the same whether pronounced in Japanese or English, or somewhere in between, I think.
Katana on the other hand, I just can't stand to hear in English.
Most people (yes even Ameri-otaku) pronounce it as Ka-tana with a a noticeable emphasis on the "ka". That is completely wrong. Japanese pronouce it as one word, and if there is any emphasis it would be at the end "na", and even that isn't stressed much.
Anyway, ever since I started watching anime and noticed how they pronounce it, its bothered me why English speaking people try to break Katana up in a sound that feels so forced. Just say it normaly like the Japanese say it, no need to break it apart.

I pronounce it properly. I consider it an insult to purposely pronounce things incorrectly when you know/have been taught better. An honest mistake is one thing, but well, for example, how would you like to be called "Joe-Nathan" if your name is Jonathan, or "Jen-knee-fur" instead of Jennifer? Consider this every time you say say something ignorant, because besides showing the world how stupid you are, you also demean others as you mispronounce things.
Yes, this is one of my pet peeves. One of the reasons I do not tolerate dubs.
