I buy some every once in awhile because it's quite expensive at chapters...(i'm in canada).

So my manga tends to be on the internet =).

But yes, $15 CAD for a single manga is absolutly ridiculous.
Especially if they take 3-5(maybe even 6) months to translate a damn volume.

It's not the issue of price for me, it's more of how much space it takes up. My room is sooo damn cluttered with books and manga, that's like the foremost reason I stopped buying manga.

I also hate reading on the internet because you hafta load every goddamn picture, and that takes more time than I want to spend on it (wireless in my basement is quite slow comparatively).

I live in Canada, and at Chapters, mangas usually cost 12-15 canadian dollars. I refuse to buy manga from there though because when you add tax, it becomes too pricey.

Cosidering that a normal novel/hardcover books range from 20 to 50 dollars...I say Mangas are not that pricey at all.

Same, hence why I never buy it from chapters. But the price has gone down, especially since the dollar is worth so much more than it used to be. I don't know about anything other than Viz, though, but for Shojo Beat title the Canadian price was reduced by two dollars. Not that I care, since I pay American prices where I buy my manga anyway.

Yeah, it can be expensive, but I think buying manga's worth it, for good titles at least. Though I've got nothing on you guys. My manga library is composed of a total of 61 volumes, which isn't exactly huge. But then again, I only started buying it in August. But I agree completely about the cost of normal books, they're incredibly overpriced. Hence why library discards = my life. Manga is a lot more affordable though, and if you're like me, you'll read it far more times than you would a normal book, so you'll get your money's worth.

Here in Australia it depends where you live.

If you live in a Capital city e.g. Melbourne, Sydney, Burisbane and Adelaide it is $20-$30 AUD for US imported manga and $15 AUD for the stuff Madman/Funtasic put out locally. Some specalist stores discount though.

I used to live in Darwin and any manga was $30+ AUD. (US import DVD's were $60+ AUD! local ones are only $30). Some areas of Australia there is no manga or anime!!! I ended up importing some myself from the US via ebay.

Thank god I live in Adelaide now! I even get discount at the specalist stores I visit!

If you ask me... the reason why manga is so expensive in US is because they think Americans are stupid enough to buy it. If u ask me the mangaka would only get less then 1$ for each manga sold. The rest goes to the publishers, and the worst thing is they suck translating the manga.
If i know manga is so damn cheap in Japan, i would probably goes there 😛 . But in my country its already cheap enough ^^. I could buy like 7 books with 10$... all licensed ^^.
