Definitely Shut Hell . It's also gender bender. The main protagonist, a male, goes back in time, to his ancestor, a strong female lead. She is strong, badass, but also human, emotional and complex.

I'm sorry if it's been mentioned already, but Crazy Girl Shin Bia definitely deserves to be suggested. The girl is strong both mentally and physically. It's an amazing manga—and just so you know, I don't throw about words like that lightly. 😀

7 Seeds is amazing! Survivalist romance. Really good story arcs. 🙂

did we manage to find out at some point how necros find these threads? especially first post necros?

I've started to check the first post before I draft a reply. I can't tell you how many times I've carefully put together a post of my best suggestions with links only to find that the thread has been necro'ed and the original poster is likely long gone. >:-(

I don't mind when someone bumps it to ask for more. I just wish these new posters would think a minute that someone who requested a topic four years ago just might not still be looking. Also 7 Seeds doesn't even fit the request as it's hardly historical, but that's almost beside the point.

Maybe new members should have to have their first few posts approved, as some other sites do.

Come on. Post-apocalyptic Sci-fi is an essential part of human history! The prophetic James Cameron documentary duology The Terminator is a vital part of every good history class. (Both actually have a female lead!)
More stuff besides Azumi / Otoyomegatari: Akage no Anne, the Anne Frank film by Madhouse, Ashi-Girl (time travel), Innocent Rouge (dual protagonists but start with part 1), Kaze Hikaru and Oooku (alternate history).

Oh Oh! I've been reading Akatsuki no Yona lately and it's excellent! Historical, strong female lead who is also quite feminine, and I love the slow building romance. 😀

Gu Fang Bu Zi Shang - The manga has been on hiatus for 4 years, but the novel is almost dont being translated. Pingting is not physically strong, but she is very cunning and clever.

Kaze Hikaru has a girl pretending to be a guy in order to be a samurai besides the one she loves.
