I wonder if you've read Ruroni Kenshin. Sometimes people forget to mention the older stuff because its done, and don't realize some of the noobs have never read some of the stuff that was essential to us back when scans and manga in general was more sparse.

try Double Arts a rather new series (14 chapters so far but looks promising and fits your description)
and Rappi Rangai also new
and if you want something hilarious try Yo no Na wa Zushio
RAVE didn't really like this one, but it gets better (its done by Hiro Mashima (fairy tail))

Rave starts off kinda meh. I think the problem was in the beginning, Hiro Mashima didn't know where to take the comic. My memory may be faulty, but I think in one of his early rants he stated he was more or less winging it. So in recap, it does get better the further along you go.
