I agree with jho about the box thingie since Sarutobi said something like "the one in the 3rd box is far too strong" and it was said that yondaime was the strongest Hokage...

on the other hand you never know what kishi will come up with

actually the 3rd box could have been someone entirely different, when i first saw it i thought it should have been teh 4th hokage, but then there are really strong people, such as amegakure's kage, the one the beat down the sannin and gave them their name, or possible the 3rd member of pein and konan...

The bloodline traits are powerful, true, but being strong isn't the only qualification for being a leader. You have to be able to handle situations calmly and correctly judge things on an enormous scale. the best leader is sometimes the person who can see through a situation with the fewest casualties and least energy expended.

I don't know why the Hyuugas aren't interessted in the position as Hokage but the Uchihas had the Police force which was almost the same as being Hokage so they propably weren't interested in any other powerfull position...

Wasn't Orochi kicked out cause of his experiments? I don't think Minato was brought up yet.
It couldn't have been the 4th Hokage in the box though right? Since he used the forbidden Jutsu, his soul was unaccessable.. Now the First through Thirds are as well..

The fourth hokage is, unfortunately, dead. That's what I think at least. 😛

You just got to accept it. And I think Kishi doesn't let the 4th's death explicit shown in the manga. Because then the 4th will feel more like a myth/legend.

Yeah, I think it's like that too.. I'm 100% sure that Minato and Orochimaru have talked on some occasions..

i think the 4th is still alive because i think he is the leader of akatsuki and eventually in shippuden naruto kills the leader which turns out to be his farther. plus when orichimaru was summoning the tombs he didnt state that he was summoning the 4th the 3rd just assumed he was summoning the 4th and stopped it.

and the third tomb could of been one of the other kages. think of the possibilities people.

"one more thing" when the 4th sealed away the kyubi he tried to use his body flicker jutsu that takes him anywhere (i think) in a flash hense the name yellow flash his soul was split in half and the evil side stayed on earth and became the leader of akatsuki because he was that strong and the good side was sealed away because that side made the effort to save the village from the kyubi but if the summoner gets the same fate as the victim he should also be behind the seal or in a differnt one that naruto nevr acceses. i may have more info

The Akatsuki Leader is Pain. Period. >.< BUT Madara is the "boss" of Pain...

Also, being the "boss" of someone, doesn't automatically mean that they're stronger...

I mean, Rinnegan has obviously been presented as being better as the Sharingan... So I wonder why a Sharingan-user is the "boss"...

It could be because Madara is the first and original Uchiha, which means that his Sharingan is much more stronger and developed than the ordinary one...
