Yes. I was spanked several through my childhood by my parents( but I don't have any trauma or bad memories from it) It's simply efficient way to punish child for wrong behaviour.
More clearly: little spanking - Yes, anything more than that is WRONG.
Totally agree.

Only when they were really bad, and to show them that it was wrong, and not harshly. The spanking wouldn't be the punishment, it would be the sign that the kids were going to get punished.

while i think it can be an effective way to discipline your kids but i would NEVER do it myself. its like being gay: u can go ahead and be gay if u want, i don't condemn you, fight oppression and all that, but I would NOT have sex w/ another man if the oppurtunity arose. for me, its the same for spanking.
also: dont do it out in public!
some people probably think im a homophobe now...
In extreme cases, sometimes, some form of punishment is necessary. I faced it and the future generation wont be any different but of course, in such situations only.

I was raised old-school style and that's how I'll raise mine. I turned out to be a good person and I have my parents to thank for most of that. I believe in spanking up to a certain age, after that there should be no need. I, however, will not be using a paddle, hairbrush, or belt to whack the kid on the butt; if its not the hand-its too much. Slapping across the face and soap in the mouth are fine, as well as taking things away and enforcing time-outs.
This is just my preference, but since they'll be my children, no one has a right to say anything about how I raise them. Just like I have no say in how anyone else brings up their children.

I found that sentence funny because hitting a kid in face is illegal, anywhere else is fine.

Would you mind showing me the law for this? I have never heard of it before. Thanks~

It can count as an assault.

Hell yes, I plan to spank my kids if they're misbehaving. I'm so tired of parents who won't take control of their children and teach them properly.
The ABCs of animal training works on humans, too.
If you've ever thought or said "Nice Guys finish last" and really meant it, then you should probably read this LJ post by DivaLion. It's incredibly insightful whether you're male or female.

Give me a while to find this, I was told by social services worker. Said that accidents can happen and damage could be done so it's done as a precaution.

Not a problem, I appreciate it, thanks. I've been looking and I can't find it anywhere, just the opposite, actually. Btw, is it a federal or state law?
If it truly is a law, I may rethink my stance on that.
