What's wrong with Dragonball? It's a perfectly good manga. It is the best example of the cliche shounen.

One piece and Gintama
One piece has everything that a shounen needs be it characters,plot,lore.
And gintama has the wickest humor in a tv show that airs in day 😀
In my opinion they are the best there it is and will stay like that for some time

Best manga of all time AND currently ongoing to me would be Pandora Hearts. I'm practically married to this series... 😛

(Even though it has so many chapters and isn't updated very often its still a great manga.)

Best ones I've read that actually had decent endings... Kenshin and Fullmetal. It seems to be surprisingly easy to lose the plot. Kenshin was even more surprising as everything he wrote since has been a complete turd.
Oh wait, Devilman too, that was supposedly Shounen, gotta pity the kiddies of 70s Japan.

Only one ongoing I still trust to stay good till the end: One Piece.

Gintama rocks too, but the type of comedy works better as an anime.
