@Scorpio, I agree Flame of Recca is worth mentionning... can't believe I forgot that one... But I still don't know what to call the best ever.
But it's defenetly one of the best IMO.
@daed:
it shouldve been toujo!
Why does everybody complain about Nishino? and when for the first time in history a mangaka decides to be original, everybody wants to complain...

At least it wasn't the ending everybody was expecting... so you can count that as original. right?
And for me that was the part that made the whole series worth it.
Spoiler ahead don't highlight if you didn't read Ichigo 100%
After all what Nishino did for him, he would have been seriously the worst kind of jerk to leave her for toujo.
And I must admit, Nishino was my favorite all along so maybe that was what made me like that ending? lol
But hey, don't say you wouldn't have found it cruel if he left Nishino (again), just after restarting with her and giving her hope?

Anyone that needs originality out of everything should contemplate suicide. Life is more of the same. Everything you do has been done before. At least it (Ichigo 100%) does the generic stuff that is a romantic comedy very well... Nishino rocks!

So Hostile, your saying I should contemplate suicide? And when I though we where fellows of the Nishino fan club... 😢
No, but seriously I don't expect EVERYTHING to be original, but I do like it when I find something original...
EDIT: (Some obvious spelling not the rest though I don't want to bother)
And to add: I like it when there are inpredictible stuff in a story. And that wasn't really the ending I was expecting so: It shocked me -> then I was overjoyed.
because Nishino rocks!

I said "needs originality out of everything" so we're still good to go on that Nishino fanclub 🙂
Ichigo 100%
It went the way it should have ended instead of having Aya suddenly becoming the girl. What shocked me was I expected to be pissed off with the Aya ending but the mangaka actually did the right thing.

if im interpretting hostile right, it really wasnt original, mainly b/c twist endings have been around since as long as theres been fiction
@hostile
hostile why wouldve a aya ending pissed you off? i might be a lil bit partial to toujo only b/c she was my fav out of the girls
honestly tho i didnt really like noshino

Seriously, if you're going to be like that then absolutly nothing in the whole universe is original... Since any new idea or concept must have been inspired by something else already present. New concepts are born from old events that trigger a new thoughts into the minds of some.
Ichigo 100% spoiler
And everybody was expecting Ichigo 100% to end with Aya, so when another ending came. Well it was at least unexpected if not original...
And I'm not Hostile, but you see, I found that Nishino worked a lot on her relationship and they developed that alot. It would surely have pissed me off to see all that dissapear the moment Aya confesses.
I don't know maybe I'm just the empathic kind? When I read a story I kinda get affected by the characters emotions, and I can't stand when a nice guy/girl is treated like dirt... It makes me mad. (That's one reason I don't read to much Shoujo, they often have the miserable dramatic storyline type...)
And anyway, I think all those that read Ichigo can agree on only ONE thing:
They where ALL to good for that bastard!
P.S. Maybe we should let this thread get back on tracks? And if we still want to discuss this we might want to start a new thread...

Aya's love and Manaka's love, to a certain extent, for each other was not progressed. They sure as hell were the "fated couple" we saw in the beginning as the pairing, but even Satsuki tried more than Aya. Satsuki and Nishino were both tenacious in their love for Manaka. Now I'm not saying all girls in a romantic comedy that try hard should win the affection of the main character in the end but Aya did almost nothing for herself. Just because I felt Aya+Manaka was the fated pairing doesn't mean it has to be, or should be, that way by the end.
Edit: This topic specifically isn't the best place to talk about it. Whoever qoutes Stealth and I next should copy and paste that into the Ichigo 100% spoiler topic. We can also remove spoiler tags there.

In my opinion, here are my best takes (Some of my mentioned mangas haven't been heard in the English-speaking world)
- Spriggan - Has themes partaking on forbidden archaeology and political statements regarding world power such as the US and Russia, which seeks the forbidden artifacts to favor them as first world countries.
The main themes of "I wanna rule the world", "I wanna bring the world to chaos" and the "I want to bring my country's status as a world power" drove the story very well
-
D-Live!! - Satoru Ikaruga! The MacGyver of the manga world. The genius of vehicle driving from Almighty Support Enterprises (ASE), a specialist organization providing legal service to governments and private interests.
-
Jiraishin - Story of a hard-nosed Dirty Harry-like detective who uses his Glock 17 to solve things when legal ways can't be done.
-
Black Lagoon - Baddest pirates of the Southeast Asian underworld! Nice to have a civilian see what he thinks of the criminal underworld...
May Peace Prevail on Whole Earth!

Flame of Recca is most definitely shounen, and I think it was mentioned before as well =P
Personally, I didn't like it too much. I found the characters too stupid and the plot too generic and predictable to be very compelling.
Shounen is a pretty broad category, but I'd probably say my favorite series' are Katsu! and Rough (my favorite Adachi mangas, not counting Cross Game atm), and Hikaru no Go.
