well if we manage to develope a germ to live on mars, it means we can live there too. think of the possibilities if the guys will actually manage to do it. they went on tv with the project at age 17. they worked on it for 2 years up until now. when they develope this animal, theyll give us a path to outer space!

But would that disturb the eco-system of the native organisms that are supposedly existing on Mars? (If there are in fact any....) (It'll be a first for Man-kind to destroy an alien creature.)

Well this is really nothing new. People have been talking about this possibility for years in science fiction. But if we got it to work it would be new. But there have been thoughts that this idea could go terribly wrong. Check out the movie Red Planet. Anyway here is the actual term for all this: Terraforming.

See Wikipedia Terraforming

Or go way ahead and watch Aria and hope for possibilities.

People are hoping that they would find humanoids, but if we are or aren't lucky, the most developed beings that could come to bot lenses would be bacteria.

Yeah I love that manga/anime. And that was actually what happened when it went wrong because they didn't expect Aqua (mars) to have so much water.

I would think the temperature on mars is too low. Their oxygen supply is also low. But If they melt the ice caps, Mars may become somewhat habitable.

If you want to look at it from a religious perspective, it is stated that god only made one inhabitable planet. You may not believe in this, but thats my tuppence in this discussion. 😃

We're Taiwanese Buddhists. Not very religious, but religious enough to keep ourselves in line.

Anyways, life on Mars will be difficult, especially for humans. They can make microbes that can survive, yes, but humans require more than microbes to live. Microbes are a start, though.

still, why not just make domes or underground cities...with an environment similar to earth.

ares6: idk about your view of china, but from what i know back in china, everyone from the ages 60 and up are crazy religious, everyone 50 and down don't give a $H#&, and everyone below 20 thinks they're god.

....I came from China.......Since you are from there too, you know everyone goes to the temple and pray on New Years break.

Life on Mars, merely microbes and nothing more.
