What turns you off... about a manga.

when the guy is constantly telling the girl not to do things because "she's only a girl"
-
when the male lead has glasses (I don't see why people think manga guys with glasses are hot). this actually probably turns me off the most.
-
when the girl blushes and cries like every other page and the guy never blushes or cries
-
when the girl has a controlling/abusive boyfriend and he's viewed as romantic (i have no problem with mangas that deal with controlling/abusive boyfriends, but i absolutely cannot stand when he's just viewed as being romantically protective of her. ugh). this also turns me off the most.

uhhh...
"most women"?
Maybe the kind of women who go looking for one night stands in vegas, but I hardly think that's an unbiased sample.
And there we have the, "Oh, those women you speak of - they must be the whores and sluts."
Guess what bro - ALL women have an inner whore and slut they yearn to let loose. But guys like you are so busy repressing this side to them that NEITHER of you get laid.
So...in the high school / college you were at, all the nerds or trekkie fan dated the hottest girls in the school? I guess only IT techs get all the flirty looks from the young hot secretaries at work too eh?
Of course, runway models flock to the arms of the average Manga and Anime loving American fanboy!
The fact that women DO come to Vegas to let their hair down and slut themselves up is proof that they aren't getting what they really want where they're from and need an outlet. A hot girl doesn't need to travel far to get laid - but they come here for the anonymity and I'm the guy on the strip picking them up. Then, they go home to guys like you who think that all she did was had a weekend out with the girls and blew her pay check on brand name clothing.
So feel free to think that all a man needs to do is worship the ground a hot girl walks on and she'll eventually open her heart to you (which she will eventually I suppose - when she realizes her looks are about gone). While you, and guys like you, are waiting for that, me, and guys like me, are making her open her legs and f**king the shit out of her while she's young and spry.
My challenge is still open: Come on down to Vegas and we'll hit up BOTH the strip and local Vegas (where all the 'normal' girls are) and lets test your theory against mine. I'll even sweeten the deal: YOU don't need to get laid. You just need to get an honest to God make out session a girl, while I HAVE to get laid.

If the main character is a Mary Sue I usually leave the series without looking back. xD
Boring/bad art is a major turnoff too. The manga-ka has to know what media he/she it dealing with, if they can't draw movement/emotions/depth properly I cant keep my focus.
Clishé "OMG our hand's touched" romances... was cute the first time I read it, but now it's just gettinf old and boring.
That's all I can come up with for now.^^

Imagine this:
there's a couple
the girl for example gets kidnaped or whatever
the guy rushes in and saved her, being a shining hero
(the girl is so moved that she cries and admits that she loves him)
...
I puke and hit my computer
that's another point that can make any manga horrible >:-(
There's nothing to see here. Proceed with what you were doing or throw rainbows at random pedestrians.

I dont get turned off due to my completionist like attitude, but I can get pissed, like when the main heroine goes out with someone other then the main protagonist, but she feels all bad about it (like in Ginen Shounen)... In harems when someone claims one of the girls I guess would bother me xD and lastly, art style... Im not too picky, I acutally have a very wide acceptance range, but when its TOO realistic, or anything of the like, I can't read it... that's just me xD

The guy with a harem is completely oblivious to the romantic feelings of the girls... I mean seriously!! This is more or less impossible in reality!!! Not to mention 4-5 girls going after the same guy (I'm not talking about celebrities here!!) 🙄

🤣 🤣 I love big boobs but not because of mangas I read.
I hate the way they draw hentai with big boobs chibi girls 🤢 it's scary.

Shojo.
I always get this feeling that shojo plots are all the same. The art is also more often than not sketchy at best. But I guess that's what you get for being a guy?
This.
The only things worse than shoujo are:
- Guro: Blood, intestines, cut-off body parts, dead people, etc. are not sexy.
- Unnatural 'living' creatures, especially girls: Robots, aliens, animal-human characters, semi-dead people, etc. are not sexy.
- Gender-bender: Guy looks like a girl, guy acts like a girl, guy dresses like a girl, guy's body changes into a girl's, etc. is not sexy.
- The top spot goes for the all-mighty YAOI. 'Nuff said.

Does the offer still stand? 😀 I am in the nice-to-girls category, but I think you're right; hot girls are stupid, going for the 'bad boys' who treat them like shit.

have to say that I like big boobs too but not when when it's scary big, a good example of what i'm talking about is eiken or anything drawn by Matsuyama seiji, the breast are so big that it's disgusting (honestly made me sick). Maken-ki! also almost took that same path (don't know about the anime), where for whatever reason the mangaka started out of nowhere giving the girls digustingly big boobs, then tones it down again.

When I'm on the over 9000th volume and the climax is no where in sight, and the "filler" isn't even interesting, when there isn't any actual progress.
this.
i rarely drop manga, but when i do its usually because its gotten boring because the mangaka keeps putting off the climax. there might be a ton of things i hate in a manga (annoying/whiny characters, character falls in love with rapist, bad artwork, etc) but as long as the story is still interesting, i'll keep reading it.
sometimes i'll also drop a series if its too ecchi. i'm not a big fan of ecchi to begin with (what's the point when there's hentai and borderline-h?), but every once in a while i'll come across an ecchi series that has an interesting plot so i'll try it out. but if the ecchiness is over the top and pointless, like the Freezing anime, i'll drop it.

one thing that really turn me off is when the protogonist is rude and always angry for example from rizelmine and fukigen cinderella. i've also dropped to aru majutsu no index anime after just 4 episodes because of this (until i read railgun and find it an interesting story). i also hate to see stupidly gullible and nice person (especially heroine)
i agree with kaorinite about freezing. i have nothing against ecchi but the anime is just pointless flashering. such a waste of a good story

Well, i guess we got the same probs:
-Harem/Reverse Harem: i SERIOUSLY can't stand this, isn't it as worst as gang bang?
-Yaoi+Yuri+Cross dressing, gender blender....---->straight manga plz!!!!!
-unlimited volumes: i'm not loyal enough to keep reading the same thing for...let's say 20 yrs?
That's the common things in manga that turn me off. My own experience is don't stick up with only 1 serie/genre,try reading different thing at the same time to refresh your mind 😀
Edit: forgot to mention the ART,that's the crucial matter to the manga, i don't hesitate to drop any manga with sloppy drawing 😔

Yaoi/Yuri, Ecchi (I dislike seeing girls with melon sized boobs all the time!) and plots that never seem to end.

auto drop:
episodic style, lowest quality art, when it's cliche are more evident than it's particularities. (if you're an extroverted, 'friendship power' shounen MC, thanks and bye. same to mr. distant, rude shoujo prince)
drop after following a bit:
lack of growth. if the manga isn't going anywhere in plot, then i'll only read it for as much as it's other traits entice me. which does not last much usually.
On general, the more the story makes it seems that the world gravitates around the MC, the faster i drop it. specially if there's no reasoning for such attention.
MC= main character. just in case!
