Exactly, those who died.

We can't be sure that he died. He might have just passed out. He said that his body was "almost crushed" which means that he might have just been stuck underneath. We never see a funeral and he is not buried anywhere. Therefore we cannot know for sure that he is really dead.

Yea they're should've been a funeral or atleast them getting the body. Because during the whole Haku/bridge arc they went into detail about how they had groups of ppl to dispose of ninja bodies. Espcially a sharigan body, you know?

Now that you say that, what if Obito is dead, but Tobi dissected his corpse and learned the sharingan's secrets. Then he went along to uchia madera's grave and did something there. That sounds more like the actions of an akasuki member.

Has anybody seen a forehead protector on tobi? Can someone go back as many chapters as it takes and see if they spot one? I would but I'm very lazy, cuz I delete all my Naruto Manga and would have to DL it again.

If we ever had a glimpse of a protector, it would shed a little light I think

I don't think anyone's un-lazy enough to go back through all the Akasuki chapters to look for a forehead protector.

They're not trying to find out if he's uchiha or not, they're trying to find out if he's somebody who stole the sharingan from another village.

how bout the fourth hokage somehow saves obito from the near death experience and so obito survives the incident and becomes 'tobi'

Ohh, then he is a half crushed deformed guy who is kept as a secret - like Naruto Kyubii - He finds out about the Uchiha secret lab and goes there to se if he can heal himself, instead releases his own Mangekyo and takes off from Konoha ....

Then Itachi, the leet, is sent after Obito to bring him in, but - by then become Tobi - teaches Itachi about the secrets and Itachi spares his life and goes back and kills all the Uchiha!!!! Amazing!

okok...so mayb not the 4th saved him but some other guy who formed akatsuki saves obito and trained him as his apprentice and soon passes away leavin his plans to obito to finish the job
