something similar to death note would be Code Geass, but the manga is not very far, and the anime is much more fun to watch
another manga i'll suggest, which don't have much relation to the type of manga you want, but a still good manga would be Katekyo hitman reborn, it had a bad art at first but it gets much better. and psyren is a good choice too i think 😛

code geass....i'm already watching, but thanx anywayz....
and hitman reborn? thought it was garbage.....plus it had a wimpy kid main character, so no thanx......
and psyren's on my unfinished list, although i liked main character, the story was too typical shounen for me....

I have to say, I'm impressed by the sheer size of your unfinished list. I guess you really know what you don't like?
-Himizu is a good one by the author of Ciguatera. It's much darker though.
-Liar Game is an interesting psychological thriller. Remembering some earlier comments you've had though, you might find the female lead too annoying to read much of it.
-It's a little bit lighter than what you're asking for, but Tsukihime is a nice seinen-action. The original game is better, but the manga is a much better adaptation than the terrible anime (if you've seen that).
EDIT: Thought of one more so I'm dropping it in. The lead in Onani Master Kurosawa is pretty similar to Light (filled with complexes, socially reserved, intelligent). If the premise doesn't bother you, you'll probably enjoy it.
Maybe you'll like one of them?

Katekyou Hitman Reborn is a must read but skipping the first 7 volumes would be a good idea as the action starts in the 2nd chapter of volume 8 (chapter 62).

i have no interest in reading hitman reborn....in fact it doesn't even have anything to do with these manga's in this thread.....it's just a random manga that guy suggested for who no's what reason....so lets get back on topic here
Ares pretty unique, maybe similar to SAO. It's very good. It's a manwha.
ES similar (and better) to Death Note. Guy with power to manipulate minds tries to "live" in the world.
Claymore you probably already knew this.
Alive don't know, maybe similar to a sort of shounen version of Gantz, but I have the feeling you could like it.
Kurozuka to SAO again. Darker than it.
Elfen Lied to Gantz for the amount of violence.
Bokura ga Ita I only watched anime from Peach Girl and this, and I've a sort of similar feeling for them. I don't know if it's the same for the manga.
Lovely Complex I only read the beginning of Koukou Debut, so I'm not very sure, they seemed similar to me.
What I like in Trivial Pursuit style. Pick your category:

Almost all of them are on your hold list, which I forgot to check because it's new and I didn't pay attention. Sorry.
PS I don't understand why keep adding lists. Now I've to check 5 lists before recommending something and I can't keep 7 tabs open every time (5 lists, the thread and the answer post)... I don't think it was a tragedy to have stuff on hold on the same place of reading or unfinished.

but Toughs seems like what i've been looking for the most out of all the mangas i listed (something like Shamo)... good look, i'll start off with this one now, preciate it
