I've been reading yaoi for a while, then I took a break because it felt like I actually just read all good ones. Still I'm missing those stories and I'd like to see if you can recommend me some.

What I'm looking for are mangas that's not so typical yaoi. A yaoi with a real story, realistic thoughts and actions, no comedy. I love darker stories too. I'm looking for a seme and uke who are both mature and neither too masculine or feminine.

Anything twisted, dark or unusual is welcome.

You probably have read all of them, but let's give a try. Tell me if you have already read it, so I can recommend others.

Hana wa Saku ka and others by Hidaka, Shoko;
Saezuru Tori wa Habatakanai and others by Yoneda, Kou;
Complex;
Copernicus no Kokyuu, Double Mints, J no Subete and others by Nakamura, Asumiko;
Zankoku na Kami ga Shihai Suru;
The Heart of Thomas;
Akane Shinchi Hanaya Sange;
Let Dai;
Kyuuso wa Cheese no Yume wo Miru and its sequel Sojou no Koi wa Nido Haneru;
Endless World;
Koi ga Bokura o Yurusu Hani;
Shisei no Otoko and others by Aniya Yuiji;
Sweet Bitter Candy;
Gerard & Jacques and others bya Yoshinaga, Fumi;
Koujitsusei no Tobira;
Haru wo Daiteita;
Sora wo Daite Oyasumi and others by Kyuugou;
Tableau numéro 20, Red Blinds the Foolish and others by est em;
Rules Series and others by Miyamoto, Kano;
CUT and others by Kawai Touko;
Illumination, Koi no Hanashi ga Shitai and others by Yamashita, Tomoko;
Sakura Gari.

Hope it helps. Shounen Zanzou was my first yaoi and it's pretty twisted, you can try it... Also try Blood if you liked it.

Some I haven't read, but a lot of people say it's good:
Negai Kanae Tamae
Bannin
Banana Fish
Mimurake no Musuko
Close the Last Door
Zetsuai 1989
Tetsu x Rika
Tenshi no Uta (NISHIDA Higashi)
Wild Adapter
Usotsuki wa Shinshi no Hajimari

Love Mode would please anyone and i'm pretty sure you must've read it by now due to its popularity.
Breath definitely has that unusual dark atmosphere to it because of the

brother complex tei has.

i second Sora o Daite Oyasumi although it may be too twisted to your likings.. nevertheless its a great yaoi manga and is currently on-going. ^^

Edit: After going through my lists i noticed that you might like Silence. The only thing that sucks right now is that this manga has been put on hiatus but you should still read it.

I would say that most anything by SADAHIRO Mika would work ~ There are a couple that are more realistic as well as some that are dark and TOTALLY different.

Hmmm...maybe Yuuutsu na Asa?

Tenshi no Uta (NISHIDA Higashi) I second this.

New York New York, I just finished it actually and it's great!! Very realistic! It goes on about how it's hard to accept gay people in a society and the problems they face! I really liked it! 😀
