Both categories have lots to add. But let me just put in;-

Like
🤣 any manga which has a cheerful guy or a beautiful sexy woman as the main character, I am talking about non-harems and non-ecchi
🤣 Jjang mangas where the guy is violent and non-bishie and girl is a normal girl (not overtly shy) or if both are violent or they arent on good terms to begin with but end up together.
🤣 Like it when girl likes a guy and another guy pursues her as long as he is not pushy-rapist kinda guy
🤣 Older woman, younger guy mangas

Hate
>:-( Harems - the loli/little sister, the tsundere/tomboy girl (with short hair) and the buxom sexy older sister/good student, megane etc and a super wimpy guy who is suddenly popular
>:-( Shinjo Mayu type plots - with maso women and sadistic men
>:-( Girl joins high school to fall in love and always always always likes most popular guy or maybe he plants a kiss on her and she's hooked. love is so easy and developments r so dragged.
>:-( Is there an irrefutable law that childhood friends must fall in love and or lovers more or less always have met up sometime when they wre kids?
>:-( why do mangakas hate parents? majority of the manga characters live alone.

I have more to add to both lists but it would be ranting

This is a good list You hit the nail on the head w/ the harem set up. That annoys me to no end. If you're gonna do harem at least be a little unique.

lolz This is something I've always noticed and irked me for a while. Parents either always gone, not there, dead, or just don't give a sh*t what their kids do. "Yeah my 16 yr. old daughter is spending the night at her boyfriend's house." WTF?!.

I think mangaka do that to give their characters a little more flexibility and freedom. I mean most of the time these are kids in very mature situations so they wouldn't have the amount of freedom they need to do things like: leave the house at midnight for god knows what, or stay out all day and night, or fight monsters, demons, delinquents, etc..

Just like Criminal Intent said, you hit the nail right on the head. It annoys the hell outta me when the main character of any story (be it shounen, shojo, seinen, harem, mecha, horror, sports, etc.) likes the most popular girl/boy and wishes that they could be nearer to them, but then says something like "Oh, but it will never happen to me. What's the point in dreaming about it? They're so useful and I'm so useless." Hell, if I heard a dude someone say something like that about the most popular girl wherever I'm at, I'd be like, "Great! One less competitor." 🤣

I can sorta relate with the childhood friend thing (I have a friend who I met in the 4th Grade, and when I met her again in 10th Grade, she was the epitome of HOT.) But what I don't get is why they always remember the marriage promise when they were young. Every time they do it, they're too young to know better and the childhood friend who comes back still remembers that promise and seems a little desperate. It actually makes you wonder about their love life. If they haven't seen you for about a half-decade to a decade and they're still clinging onto that promise, then that should give you a clue that it might not be wise to go to with them.

P.S. I know which manga you got your avatar from, Criminal Intent.

And it's awesome 😃

Yeah, I'm with the hate-club against loving your rapists, and I love the manga that test out humanity's morality/psychology.

Totally agree. Also, I can't stand ditzy and wishwashy female leads who can do nothing but cry while the hottest guys in the world think they're so strong and do everything for them.

(Needless to say, my favorite manga include Tokyo Crazy Paradise and Hana Yori Dango... some kick-ass girls!!)

My favorite plots would include tough, not exceptionally bright girls who work hard toward their goal (with a little romance, why not).

Lol this is why some kids wish they lived in Japan. They think parents do exist. 🙄
I could care less if you rant. Rant away I like talking to my friends about what we like and don't like. I want to read about others dislikes and likes. I have decided to be more openminded because of this thread. I am reading manga i thought I would hate (some I still do)! 😀

I don't have a particular favourite.
But I do have hated ones.

Hate list:

-Pretty much all shoujo. Girl meets guy, girl falls in love with guy. Guy doesn't give a damn. The end up falling in love.

-Where the main shoujo falls for the abusive guy. After being raped (many times), humiliated, cheated on, she still stays with him.

-Shoujo where the girl can't understand that the guy loves her. Being so unbeliebly stupid that everything the guy does seem to have no effect on her.
(only understanding that he loves her on the last chapter).

-Where the main character rellys on nothing but it's physical power.
-The same main character can never be completly beaten, and will always somehow get stronger than people that have trained for years and so on.

-In BL. That somehow everyone is gay. (trying to rape the uke, or hit on the seme)

-Plots that revolve around a subject. People only talk of that subject, and too many things happen regarding that subject (that doesn't consern the main leads). It seem so unreal...~

And not only her, sadly. Same description applies to Hikaru from Moe Kare!!, Tohru from Fruits Basket, Miki from Marmalade Boy, and so many more...

[Now, it's not that I don't like these manga. Fruits Basket is even in my top five! But, well, I just wish the girls were a bit... less crybabies, you know?]

lol Tohru wasn't really a crybaby she was just to naive! I just can't stand Miki from Marmalade boy because she was a crybaby and couldn't trust Yuu if her life depended on it. She was a very weak character.

What, do we share a brain or something and I didn't know?? 🤣

You're the first person I know (apart from myself, obviously) that really can't stand Miki!! My sister totally loves her!! I almost stopped reading Marmalade Boy altogether because of Miki!

And yeah, you're right about Tohru... She wasn't too terrible, but sometimes she was sooo dense she'd just get on my nerves so much!! I liked Rin a lot better! 😀

lol Cutie Boy was really cute and funny. if you like that you should try Snow Drop it's only really interesting in the begiining and then dies. Can't Lose You this one made me cry because of how she was treated.
These mangas aren't about kiss ass girls but they are strong-minded which is what I also love.

And on FB the anime Tohru pissed me off so i rather stick to the manga Torhu. I also like Rin alot better! 🤣

I just thought about it, those types of girls are hard to imagine/find in real life, but what if that's a normal thing in Japan?

My favorite types would pretty much be the sexy older woman full of liquor. Why must it be so tough to find sexy ones in real life?

Barring poetic justice, I hate rapes, rapists and attempted rapes in story plots.

That would really suck to have girls who cry over every waking thing. None of my friends are like this!
