I enjoy old shoujo mangas. By old I mean candy candy kind of old. I like mangas from the 70's to the 90's. I like the art primarily. XD

Would be really glad if you could point me to the really good ones.

I only know a few like: Glass Mask, Gokinjo Monogatari, Hana Yori Dango and some others that I can't remember.

I want something that is refreshing, funny, long (prefer long mangas but I'm okay with short ones), awesome heroines, realistic (I don't really like fantasy in manga) and some really good love story. Something really really good and not crappy and not shallow.

Thanks everyone in advance! 😀

I do have some great Manga from those eras.

I have Sain Cosain Love Cosain (Vol.01), A Song For You, and Shiratori Reiko Gozaimasu (Vol.02).

They're all good and funny at the same time.
Even though they're all in Japanese language, I can understand the story a-lot! ^^,

If anyone who's interested to scanslate these titles I mentioned, you can PM me anytime. 😀

Some obvious ones, some not so much:

Basara (1991)
Red River (1995)
Tokyo Crazy Paradise (1996)
Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou (1996)
Banana Fish (1981)
Swan - Hakuchou (1976)
Tenshi Nanka ja Nai (if you liked Gokinjo Monogatari, you could try reading her other works...)

I know Skip Beat isn't old, but since you enjoyed Glass Mask... I just had to suggest it. (Glass Mask is like its mother. XD Although Skip Beat must've had a funny father. )

Tenshi Nanka ja Nai (if you liked Gokinjo Monogatari, you could try reading her other works...)

swan is a really good ballet manga
Seito Shokun! (1977) - a bit sad and depressing at the middle but I really like the story so I thought you have to give it a try at least. See if you like it. Art a bit old but I see you have no problem with that. It's about 20+ volume
Orpheus no Mado (1975) - art is gorgeous IMO. Story is sad. Tragedy if you could put it as a category
Versailles no Bara (1972) - story of Marie Antoinette, the queen of France

by the same author:
Georgie! (1982)
Mayme Angel (1979)

add:
Minmin!
Lady!!
Fredward-shi no Ahiru (1991) - one of the best manga that I've ever read. Don't let the summary fool you. I suggest you give it a try because it's far more realistic than it seems (other than a talking duck as a housekeeper)
Yokohama Monogatari and anything by YAMATO Waki
Time Limit! Nina totally hillarious
Sabbath Cafe
Niji no Densetsu - a very cute couple
Boku no Chikyuu wo Mamotte / Save My Earth - first couple of books a bit boring but after that the story is amazing!!

Thanks everyone for the suggestions!

I already know about:

  • Candy Candy (I am reading this one right now)

  • Tokyo Crazy Paradise (tried reading it, but wasn't able to finish)

  • Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou (tried reading but did not finish)

  • Tenshi Nanka Ja Nai (finished and LOVED it!)

  • Skip Beat (reading it still)

Thanks for all the suggestions again, please suggest more, I'm pretty sure I'll be reading a lot these next months. Also, if it helps, I am not really looking for anything that has shoujo-ai or shounen-ai in it (that goes for yuri and yaoi too).
