Male and female leads or rivals/enemies

I'm looking for a manga series where the male and female leads are enemies or rivals and they actually stay that way for at least half the series. The protagonist should be the male lead and I prefer seinen and completedness.
I don't think I've seen a series that really fits that description, though there are partial matches like (anime and/or manga):
Kodocha - It only lasts for the first 8 or so episodes from memory.
Kaze no Stigma - Lasted for the first episode.
Gundam: The 08th MS Team - Again they were enemies for the first episode and even though they were on opposite sides, they could hardly be described as enemies.
Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou - 4 episodes or something.
Basilisk - didn't really like it, stopped after 1st episode..
Romeo x Juliet - didn't like the male lead.
Gurenn Lagann - also fits after the time skip.
Kilico - Don't really like the character designs, but I'll keep reading (read the 1st volume).
That's all I can think of at the moment.
Thanks.

Basilisk is something completely different.. 😀 So yeah, it's not what you're looking for..
You can try "Darker Than Black".. Half of MU is/was crazy about it.. 😛 The male and femal rival moments come in 15/16 and 21 and beyond.. But to get the story, you need to watch the whole season..

Yes! I second Darker than Black wholeheartedly! It's great 😀 .
Can't help any more, as I'm rather into manga, sorry...
Current avatar features Badou from Dogs.
Arguably something like Black Lagoon, though not really enemies.
Does Elfen Lied count? xD
The only one i can think of that fits your specification well is Fate/Stay Night.

Otogi Zoshi, though the main protagonist is a girl.

Isn't Darker than Black also a manga? I know that it's quite different, but it can't have the same title, be by the same person and be that different.

Yes, it's also a manga, but it's completely different in my opinion.. >.<

If you change it to manga, Fate/Stay Night will still apply, though not a lot of it is available ;P
<--- very proud of suggestion btw
does it have to be a female lead or just one of the main characters? since i was thinking Miyabi Aizawa from GTO
other than that, i recommend Special A at least, i think that's what your looking for

Are you talking about Shiro and Rin?
Uhm, maybe Kurozuka if you don't mind some nudity, even if it's true only for the central part of the manga. And in a strange way also Hot Gimmick.
What I like in Trivial Pursuit style. Pick your category:

Otogi Zoshi is a manga too, it's sort of a prequel to the anime, but main romance is in anime.
I second Dr. Wuv's recommendations~ (except Air Gear... unless you like that)
