Liar Game some say that it's just a Death Note without the death part. Quite good if you like all the intrigues, questions and thinking about ways out of a situation.
Mekakushi no Kuni here's a shoujo that's sweet and actually doesn't make you want to bang your head on the wall.

AND reallly it's just an amazing series. >_< IMHO, the best gender bending shoujo. -w- And I'm NOT being biased cause I read and watched Oursn first than Hana-Kimi. ;D And if it wasn't for my impatientness to read Hana-Kimi I wouldn't have found scanlations nor be here. n.n And I know you all want me here~ Hana-Kimi, up to this day, is still my favourite series. i second Dogs and Dogs: Bullets & Carnage . Great art, as mentioned before, a very bishie-ish main and side character, character interactions that just make you love the characters and a good dose of mystery and chaos. Favvie manga of all time ^_^

Deadman Wonderland interesting so far, a little more of a shonen, but the art is pretty and it has a macabre sense of humor... and it takes place in a prison! (not seen too much in manga)

Monster is an excellent psychological manga. The anime does do it justice and it's less confusing to watch, but it's up to you.

Naked is a heartwarming sort of story about the ups and downs of childhood. It's pretty short and its cute (by the mangaka of akkan baby) If you're in the mood for a sentimental manga, this one is nice 🙂

Othello is a fluffy shoujo with a twist. Yaya's split personality is pretty entertaining (especially because she becomes this coarse, aggressive woman).

Safe Again Today This manga is short, finished, and extremely sweet. I wouldn't classify it as shonen, it's a bit of both really. Though the premises sounds wierd (aliens?) it's really about people with very different backgrounds trying to adjust to the society they're relocated to. It is a sentimental and a funny light read.

I like Banya and Dangu because i'm a sucker for gritty historical mangas. The art is superb in both, and they have a blade of the immortal type vibe. May not be your cup of tea, but i enjoyed them 🙂

Venus capriccio: the art is BEAUTIFUL and i'm in looove with the characters and the story!!!(sweet black is from the same mangaka and is great 2!!!)
Kisu yori mo Hanayuko.. this one is cute cute!! u should read it but after the ones above...
and** WANTED**: Is from the same creator of Vampire Knight.. is not as good as VK but that does not mean that is not awesome too..!!!!

Witchcraft - best looking hentai I've read in a while.
One Piece - I'd say if you want to clear a lot off your list don't for this, but if that's not a concern go for it. Weird and Crazy seafaring adventurers battle marines and even more pirates. My only thing against it is the art.
Naked Not to write home about, but a good read if you want a shorter story.
Highschool of the Dead Girls, guns n' zombies. 'Nuff said.

It might not be 'your' genre but.. how about 20th Century Boys? Your manga standards will go up a decent amount after reading it, that I promise.

I'm too lazy to download all the volumes of one piece for now 🤢
About high school of the dead, I don't know.. I'm not really into zombies..
