I've seen a recent sat test and no offence but the maths section is a joke. Nearly everything there I knew since I was 14 years old. Hmm.. english section requires almost no higher abilities whatsoever. Memorization mostly. Except for essay. Just my opinion. Don't get mad.

that is what a lot of these kids said. They all said the math section was too easy. Yet, the national average of the scores for SAT was 518 for math.

Critical reading: 503
Mathematics: 518
Writing: 497

That means there is a serious hole in the education system. Math's is the only subject that won't betray you if you know what I mean. 🤣

It really depresses me. The U.S. High school education system is not working efficiently. Kids from other countries are doing better than us. We have resources, money, people, but the kids are getting low scores on the tests......

Average High school Graduating rate for some state is only 50 percent.

oh, my mistake, its 21 percent. DAMN!

I heard 50% on american idols special show. I started watching again as soon as they eliminated sanjaya(but the show has lost its touch already).
But 21% that my friend should not be happening. Also america's debt is huge. I study economics and my teacher loves to bash america(him not me(most of the time)) and their policies.

Fear not, the smartest man on the planet is here in the U.S. Professor Stephen Hawking AKA the modern Einstein. Also, the Woman with the highest IQ is also here, dear Marilyn Vos Savant. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marilyn_vos_Savant

For those of you who are interested in sample IQ questions, the Monty Hall problem, i believe, is a good one.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monty_Hall_problem

Took me 40 minutes to realize Marilyn was right. Yes, I was a little dense at the time.

It's because of all the other tests that have been shoved down my throat my whole life... SAT/GRE, etc.. they basically determine your life.. haha, dang tests! 🤢

lol takin the SAT this saturday? anyone else?

I took the SAT about 6 years ago. (That's when they were still on the 1600 scale).. I'd rather keep the score to myself tho.

Yeah is that the one where there are two of one thing and one of something else and you pick one and you are shown that one of the other two is one of the two's and then they ask if you want to change your answer and you think it would be 50/50 so you don't switch and then it is revealed that you did not pick the single one and you would have had a better chance if you switched cause the probability was higher that you didn;t pick the single first. Yep my maths teacher showed me that when I was 13 we even calculated the exact probability.

the fraction is 2/3

here's the thing, All those college professors and mathematicians got it wrong. It took a bunch of eighth graders to show them they are wrong....so embarrassing.

http://www.marilynvossavant.com/articles/gameshow.html

Shows you that perhaps being a math college professor doesn't necessarily mean your IQ is higher than a high school or an elementary school teacher. Or kids.

Yep that's the problem with lots of mathematicians.they lack the ability to be flexible with their thinking. 🤣

Oh and some of those professors comments were nasty. Talk about showing both ignorance and a lack of class at the same time.

Wow, you actually got Stephen Hawking's name wrong.

Also, I personally wouldn't compare Hawking to Einstein, as Hawking is more intelligent, in my personal belief.

When I was finishing elementary school, I had to do an IQ test, and I got below 80, the lowest for all 6th graders, and they didn't let me to the middle school in that same school.

The funny thing is that I had the best grades, with a perfect score actually. So my teacher and me were like WTF?

In high school I got 145, and after that I have always scored between 150 and 160.

Pretty weird, right?

Anyway, I heard that the IQ theory is old school. From the 70's actually. The psicologists developed the theory of Emotional Intelligence in the 80's, and in the 90's the theory of Multiple Inteligences.
