I think Threads of Time would be an excellent match for your requirements... you'll see at the end why.

Vampire Juujikai might work, because the other characters don't really know what the lead's motivation for what he does is.

I also think Id might work as well... as the lead comes from somewhere else and most of the characters don't know that (or maybe it's from a different time... not sure). And just to let you know, it has a LOT of fighting in this one... and at some points it gets cluttered, but the progression of the drawings in it are amazing... just look at these double pages from the latest chapter and ch 74 http://www.onemanga.com/Id/83/07-08/ http://www.onemanga.com/Id/83/23-24/ http://www.onemanga.com/Id/74/04-05/ and compare them to these double pages from the first few chapters http://www.onemanga.com/Id/5/01-02/ http://www.onemanga.com/Id/6/04-05/

Now, if you have read these, then it would be good to make your reading and complete lists public in order for us, the suggesters, to double check before we add a comment.

I would have suggested Saver also, but you don't want shoujo. However, it might be good just to keep this in the back of your mind as a possible series to read... because I don't think it's one or the more typical shoujos.

Zippy Ziggy

Everyone thinks the main character is a kind, strong, honour student...but in fact he is a real asshole who would even betray his best friends

hmmm, would Samurai Deeper Kyo be one of those mangas your looking for? This is kind of a hard topic. I don't know if you'll like it, but I did, another manga would be Blank Slate A.K.A Akusaga. It is a confusing manga, but I like it alot.

I think Threads of Time

I would but unfortunately I've read more than I can remember, I took a year off before college to decide what I wanted to do and other than work my only source of entertainment was manga, so I read manga almost every day for a year, sometimes reading 200+chapter series in a sitting, and even rereading favorites. Also, I'm not against shoujo manga, it's just I don't want people to start listing all those typical shoujo where the guy seems like a jerk but has a soft side, I don't want to read those because they're all to similar, and the whole thing is to predicable, they all have the same characters and developments with different names and scenarios. I'd also prefer more comedic to drama, though I don't mind either.

Let's see, of the things posted since last time, of them I've read:
Detroit Metal City-(a little to stupid for me)
superior- (liked this a lot)
Vampire Juujikai -(got bored)
Id-(didn't dislike, thought the constant gender mistakes were funny, the whole fantasy thing was a bit strong for me)
Ao no Futsumashi- (love this, wish there were more out)
Akumetsu- (love the idea of vigilantism but a a little to much violence for me, I don't mind violence, but they could have not shown half the things he did and still kept the story the same.)
Deadman Wonderland- (don't like)
Asklepios - (Didn't like the sidekick)
Zippy Ziggy- (hard to relate to a jerk but it's pretty funny at times.)
Samurai Deeper Kyo-(Liked up until Kyo took complete control, and the comedy just disappeared.)

That's all.

Meteor Methuselah looks great, Threads of time is Iffy, I don't think the story looks bad, just doesn't fit what I'm looking for. Nina Jalhae
looks good but It's 50vol and only 30ch translated, so I may never get to see how it ends. Crimson grave I may look at after the others, it's not bad but I don't like stories where the main characters already are together before the story starts.

Thanks, everyone.

In what way? I can't tell from the description but it doesn't seem to fit. I'm looking for series where it's the protagonist who's like that.

Since some posters don't understand (my fault) think of it like this instead, I'm looking for series where the hero just doesn't live up to his reputation, not where he's hiding something like a superhero (though that doesn't sound bad either... you can post those, just note that they're like that) Think: series like Trigun, the hero has the worst reputation possible, but turns out to be a good guy. He's not pretending to be a bad guy, he's just unlucky, and people assume he's bad on their own, Look for character's like the ones I mentioned in the first post, where everyone thinks they're something wildly different than what they are, not that they try to pretend to be something else.

Anyone still not understand let me know and I'll try again. So far the best recommendation I've gotten that fits the idea is Meteor Methuselah
