Except for HSDK i can hardly remember the names of the characters wether they are main characters or what else. Sometimes i even forget who they are, while reading the manga. So, yes and it's horrible. 😔

Mostly remember them by faces, unless they are drawn similarly

I can remember the main character's name as long as it's short (1-3 syllables), not too unique, and if I continue on the series.. If I discontinue the series and then pick it back up after a long while, then I may not recall.. No guarantee on remembering the other characters... Though, of course, I would somehow remember the characters who I don't like... Much harder to remember anything when following more than one series at once...haha

I think one reason I have trouble with the names is that they are literally foreign to me. The more manga I read, and the more familiar a name becomes, the easier it is to remember.

Another problem I had at first and am learning to expect is that one character is often addressed by several different names, depending on who is speaking. For example, the main character of the Katekyou Hitman Reborn! Sawada Tsunayoshi is referred to as Tsuna, Tsu-kun, Tsuna-nii, Sawada-san, and Judaime.

That sounds like me.. I cheat and look at the description which 'usually' supplies the main characters name.. or simply look at other posts for clues..
I never remember the names.. unless I particularly like the series and am still reading it..
And depends on the names themselves.. In Skip Beat its easy because the main characters have REALLY easy names to remember.. Kyoko, Ren, Sho,... Lory/President, Beagles.. But not so much the last names lol

I read a manwha recently where there are twins who dont live witheachother who look exactly alike and VERY similiar names. and it keeps switching between the sisters without warning.. Its a mess.. soo confused..

Most times I never read their names. I just kinda skip the name without saying it in my head. I even do that with books.
Even worse, I forget the name of people irl not even five minutes after they tell it to me.

sometimes i forget because they have not shown up in a while the hardest one for me to remember is people like Soi Fon from bleach since there are a lot of characters and they do not show up too often sometimes for more than a year.

there are some that I just can't forget, eg. Harima Kenji,... I guess more from School rumble, or fruits basket (most of them did have the same surname, right?), or Angel sanctuary. And of course Dragonball, as I wached the anime many many times. I think it's about how long the serie is and how you like it. And about how often their names are mentioned. or about how you like the certain character. And yeah, in manhwas I don't remember them while reading it.... I study japanese so maybe it's because it isn't so strange for me. But after a year or two I forget characters from short stories too.
