I haven't been able to get into any manga lately. I just haven't found something that would get me hooked, so I decided to ask for suggestions 😀

Things I like:
The type of manga that I like is manga that has a deep story and deep characters. I like messed up characters with a lot of character development xD I like my "heroes" too bleed, I don't want someone perfect xD I also like mysterious characters whose past gets revealed later in the story. I also like it to have some sort of romance and it doesn't matter if it's only platonic. And something I love is bittersweetness!

Things I don't like:
Superficial plot, superficial characters. Plot that revolves around "powers" (or something similar) and pretty much that's all the story is about. I don't like stories where they don't pay much attention to the characters. I don't like flat characters. And I don't like corny/cheesy things >.>

So I basically like depth and dislike superficial things xD

Chrno Crusade
Welcome to NHK!
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Tista
Akuma de Sourou
Salad Days

Any genre is fine except for yaoi/shounen-ai and yuri/shoujo-ai.
I know I'm a picky person but if someone could give me some suggestions I would really appreciate it =)

if you liked evangelion, had you tried Evangelion Re-Take?. i warn you, it contains sex, but it's worthy, a really nice way to end the series, very deep and profound...

Hmm, it sounds like you and I have the same taste. Check out Nana and Tenshi Kinryouku. And if you want to take a chance with a historical piece, give Cantarella a shot. Also, I totally back up Sanae's choice of Shoujo Kakumei Utena.

No promises, but some you could have a look at are:

Pluto, sci-fi noir about humans living alongside sentient robots.
Berserk also comes to mind but it's extremely dark and graphic.
Planetes is more slice of life. Great manga.
Hoshi no Koe, bittersweet love story.
Hotel one shot about the end of the world. Oozes profound.
GUNNM also kind of fits the bill, but i haven't read it for ages so...?? maybe not.

Alive - the final evolution if you understand the story, it's rather deep( sorry if you don't like power users)
Airgear lol complicated detail but the overall plot is good, a lot of unexpected twist in the story that irritated many people ^^
