I don't know about the genshiken anime, but I've seen the NHK anime, and although the plot is pretty close the manga is a lot better. When I say better I just feel the atmosphere created and the art is just so much more dope (as you would say) than the anime, so I reccomend you read it.

I can quote him and say that it's the same for Genshiken. But however, manga are very often better than anime.

Why don't you like Gintama? The Anime is dope as heck. Personally I won't read a Manga anymore unless it's funny, so I come here looking for suggestions and seeing you not liking Gintama blew my mind enough to join x]. But if you have a list of good comedies and where I can read the scanlations online hook me up 🙂 .

hey i watched the first 4 episodes of gintama and not once did i laughed out loud. if Gintama is a hit or miss, its a miss for me. Strange though, i started to read the first few chapters of school rumble and i did not get it either. But when i gave the anime a try, i was blown away! It was so good! and when i returned to the manga i finished it very very quickly... i guess the first few chapters were a confusing (at least to me) read.

I recommend Ai Kora. The main character is absolutely nuts! He always overdoes things and comes up with the craziest schemes to further his "parts love." I always look forward to the next chapter.

I'll also mention Pretty Face. I'm a sucker for a good gender bender and this story has it in spades. It's so good that I can't help but wonder why it doesn't have an anime series.

If you don't mind the "ecchiness to the point of it almost being hentai", then I'll suggest Happy World . Or rather the first half of the manga. I had tons of laughs, but the second half of the manga leads more towards the drama/action genres, so that isn't what you're asking for here specifically.

The first few episodes or so are just about most the different characters. You really have to watch like 10 or more to get what's going on.

After a while Ranma 1/2 does get a bit repetitive, but I don't think it's a 'dumb' manga... I really enjoyed it.

As for funny manga... City Hunter anyone?
