isnt that a good thing?? more random things i wont use XD

Well, if you like wasting money then this laptop clearly doesn't have enough stuff 🤣
Does the graphics card output Hi-definition to external displays (aka a DVI-out port)? That's always fun to have.
Oh, and yeah, you should probably check how heavy this thing is 🤢

ok everything u said in that post is something i have no clue about...>_>
and ya i need to no how much it weighs....and also how long the battery lasts...

Whoops, sorry 😛

On the back of the graphics card (the NVIDIA GeForce thingy) should be places to plug stuff in, hopefully, so you can display your computer on TVs (that'll make your HD-DVD drive an HD-DVD player!). What you'll likely have is, low-quality S-Video ports, or high-quality DVI ports. Here's a picture. (pictured: black is S-Video, white is DVI)

Weight... Pray for ~5 pounds if portability is important, more is your sacrifice.

Battery... I think most last about three hours, or much less depending on what you are doing.

I'm in the middle of a computer science major... Too much geekery 🙂

How could you not want to plug it into a TV; by using this computer as a high-def movie player you don't ever have to buy a HD-DVD player, because you'll already have one! Save yourself a good $200+...

if you're not going to be using it for much, I think it's fine. I mean it looks good plus buying electronics sometimes it just comes down to luck. you might buy a faulty one and sometimes you might get a really good one.
Like I know someone that brought a Toshiba and it died within the week, and I know another person that brought a toshiba, dropped it a few times and it still works fine (not sure what models they were tho) so it's the luck of the pick =)

Personally I own a Sony Vaio PGC-FRV37 with Pentium 4 processor, which currently is a 4 yr old laptop and its still working great for me. I was planning to get a new one, but since thing are still good I'll prob keep this for another yr or two since I really dont want to bother with vista or downgrade to XP since all new PCs now comes with vista.

and I thought the reason why AMD was cheaper is because they are the underdog company. Intel is the leader and AMD is the runner. I also have an AMD Turion 64 at home. Personally I dont really see much of a difference at all. Price wise I'd rather get an AMD. performance wise, I dont care as I dont see much of a difference...but that prob just me since my PC was mostly for school (not anymore since I just grad) internet and DLing. played a game one it before and that it ^^

My laptops are the following, Sony, Compaq, and Dell. Since you don't want Dell, I recommend Sony with all the Bluetooth and VAIO supports. <3 :]

I'm not sure what you're saying, so I'll guess

(1) Yes, the computer you are looking at contains one of those new-fangled high-definition movie players (as opposed to other computers might contain Blue-Ray players, or regular CD/DVD burners).

or

(2) Maybe, your computer may or may not be able to display its full brilliance on a TV, it depends on what they feel like putting on it (if you know the exact graphics card you could just google image search I imagine). It'll at least have the low-quality S-Video.

As for the which company is better Sony-Compaq-Dell-Acer blab, who makes it is probably unimportant, it is all the same hardware and it is all the same operating system, choosing one over another is mostly about avoiding built-in crap-programs or better customer service. For both of those reasons, the only company I'd run from is Emachines.

Well, if you're allowed to return it in 2 weeks or 30 days or something, you can just try it out. If you like it, keep it, if you don't, return it and continue looking =)
