I'm really getting tired of reading so much manga with pretty boys, even if the story Is good. Although they are pleasant once in awhile, screaming fangirls can really irritate me. So this time, I'm looking for a somewhat rough looking guy, who can be sweet, funny, mature, sexy (Not skinny boy/Delicate kind of sexy) or all of the above. Someone like Junpei from Persona 3 or the main love interest in 3am Dangerous Zone (Forgot his name). It would be great if he had a cute stubble or goatee... :3 Point is, he can't look like a beautiful wuss xD (Added examples; Main guy from spice and Wolf. Akihiko Sanada from Persona 4 Arena (His new look, omg, I've lost all my blood) Younger version of Cana's dad from Fairy Tail, The main guy from Shigeshoushi, and now... The perfect example!! Masatou from Nise no Chigiri. Although some people argue that he's a Bishie, he has the stubble and a manly look. The perfect man!!

Anyway, in terms of genres, I would prefer if romance was a strong sub-plot or the main focus in the story. Sort of a mature kind of romance, not a young hormone struck virgin waiting for the men to flock like bees. Smut, Harems, Yaoi and Ecchi are huge negatives, unless they are presented it very, very, VERY small portions. I'm fine with any age gap between the couples, I might try to stay away from 15+ age difference. I mostly tend to lean towards Josei and Seinen, but any good Shounen and Shouji are ok (Doubting it though.) The plot can be anything, really. I might try to stay away from historical ones though.

For the main protagonist, I'd like it if it were the female, but a male point of view is perfectly fine. Please, please, please do not recommend a manga with a whiny, immature, crybaby marysue! I absolutly hate them!

Non-Bishie is by no means ugly! What Bishe means is, 'A male individual who has beautiful female features. Non-Bishe is a manly man! Masculine!! IT DOESN'T MEAN 'UGLY/UNATTRACTIVE!!!'

Please recommend~ other people may be looking for the same thing 🙂

I've never heard of the manga examples you gave out until now so i cant exactly use them as reference to determine the exact type of characters you're looking for so I will just be responding to this forum based on my personal opinions regarding some mangas i've seen:

I think the main guys in Eureka Seven and Deadman Wonderland aren't portrayed to be good-looking enough to be considered bishie although they are both drawn by the same artist with very good artwork. The first manga starts out with the guy being such a wuss but don't worry, he grows up to be mature throughout the story so i doubt you'd be annoyed by it for so long. Though i've only ever read eureka seven, i assume it also goes the same for the second manga i mentioned.

The next one i can think of with a deffinitely 100% non-bishie male lead is Nana to Kaoru. It is seinen so naturally it will have MAJOR echhi. As in hella perverted. However, as far as my knowledge goes regarding these mangas, i highly doubt they have harem and whatnot, so no need to worry about that. Hmm...also, the romance for all of these are garuanteed. Don't know if you've seen them, but if not, then i recomend you might as well check them out. (I only liked Eureka Seven though)

Sorry, thats all my deadbrain can think of as of now. Im still kinda confused because you consider a non-bishie yet sexy at the same time type of guy. I've never seen an ugly sexy dude in a manga before becuase, if a guy is "sexy" then he is automatically considered "bishounen" in my dictionary, considering sexy is one of the main qualities bishies have. Maybe i'll come back again if i've thought of anything else

Oh, I guess I should've said a few more examples ^^" Maybe the main guy from spice and wolf, although that is one manga I haven't read yet. Other examples are Billy from Solanin (Although hes a bit extreme... ^__^") another one might be Asuma from Naruto.... I guess just older guys in general xD

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll give them a try. 🙂

Also, for your confusion, I recall Bishounen meaning "A beautiful/girly/skinny type of guy". Non-Bishie is by no means ugly. It means "Masculine" :3 I wanted a sexy, mature, rough or older looking guy, sort of like the type of guys people in north america like, not a delicate face. I think I'm in an "older guy" phase. xD

Something like Ristorante Paradiso? I haven't read it though, people praise this a lot...
And maybe:
Chocolat (KUBONOUCHI Eisaku)
Koi Kaze: there's incest, so you might avoid it if you're not comfortable with the theme
Miman Renai
Tamariba

Can't help with goatee and stubble cos I hate them.

But these might help:
Natsu no Zenjitsu
Emma
Honeymoon Salad
Ichigo no Gakkou
Girl Friend
Bartender

Maybe the guys in Team Medical Dragon and URASAWA Naoki's works are your type.

I think the main guy in Dance in the Vampire Bund is good-looking in a more masculine way which is not found in shoujo. I would recommend the anime since it has less ecchi and a great animation style by a famous director. Not sure about the age gap since they aren't human.

Wow... I can't think of any manga at the moment... but... how about a BBC drama, North & South? 😀

As for Ristorante Paradiso, watch the anime. It also adapted some of the stories from Gente.
And yes... I agree that Lawrence is quite the hottie from Spice and Wolf (anime).

Wow I haven't replied to any of you in awhile, I'm sorry >.< I've taken a look at your recommendations and I think I'll give some of them a try. Thanks!

I've read the manga and watched the TMD drama 😀 I love the main guy soo much! He's sexy, confident, and he screams 'Masculine'. Since you've reminded me, I shall rewatch the drama xD

It's unfortunate that you dislike facial hair. I find full on beards as a turn off, but when they've got the stubble... Especially when it's well groomed, man, I go crazy. xD

You won't have much luck looking for it in shojo/josei manga, at least depending on your definition/image of a bishie.

Solanin has a mature, realistic couple where neither person are particularly beautiful.

Across a Golden Prairie has a pseudo romantic relationship (platonic) where the male love interest is an old man. It's a beautiful story though.

I second Miman Renai, his personality is really cute.

The anime Tiger & Bunny comes to mind...mainly because the protagonist has a beard. And he's cool. And he's an older guy. The only thing is that romance isn't a big focus in the series, though there is a little of a subplot (and it's cute).

I've read Solanin, and it's great 🙂 I love all of Asano's works.
Eeeh, not really interested in old, old men... But the words "beautiful story" is tempting me. I guess I'll take a look, thanks! 🙂

Certainly, that's quite an interesting kind of request and it took me some time to think of something matching, but I'm still not too sure about the first results. Sighs. Anyways, how about ...

  • Basilisk and Brave 10 - Seinen, handsome guys - and at least one among them with a goatee.
  • Ojikoi - Shoujo, an age gap - and a manly guy, who likes gambling, is irresponsible and smells of tobacco.
  • Kore wa Koi no Hanashi - Josei, but again an age gap, just like a manly guy with goatee.
  • Yasuko to Kenji - Shoujo, but at least the brother of the female lead is pretty manly.
  • Tokyo Toy Box - I guess, there's a chance you will like the main character
  • Samurai Champloo - Mugen. Who needs a romantic subplot? ^^"

I've read some of the ones suggested, like Ojikoi. I really like that one 😀 just wished they updated it more... Kore wa koi no Hanashi... Hmm, I loved the guy, but the age gap sorta made me uncomfortable. Still, a good read it was. I'll take a look at the other ones, thanks! 🙂
