Take a look at Harukana Machi-E, it's a realistic drama about a middle-aged man who travels back in time to his teenage years, but does not rely on the gore/nudity one bit throughout the book. Gantz and Berserk are examples of manga that are labelled Seinen, but act more like normal Shonen manga without a touch more violence to pull in the idiots.

I dont like it purley for violence i like it for what it is great story telling that really have no bounds other than shounen.

Berserk, Mushishi, xxxHolic, Shin Angyo Onshi, Dangu etc......

but back on topic....when i was a kid all i watched was shounens, and i loved um....but on the other hand i only watched what was on TV, and they didn't have much Seinen....honestly, if you like shounen i dont see why you wouldn't like seinen better, it's more mature, diverse, just over all better in my opinion....although they're are some really great shounens out there, even my favorite mangas a shounen....but i'd still prefer to read a seinen 7 times out of 10

I hate people who use the word cliche improperly. Hell, it seems to have become a cliche to describe things you don't like on this forum as cliche, just if they share common plot/structural devices with other titles. THAT IS NOT WHAT CLICHE MEANS. Read a dictionary. There are other, better words to fit the description you are aiming for.

As far as hating Shounen, I don't hate anything that is grouped thusly because I judge based on title and content, not demographic. To do otherwise is stupid and closeminded. Enjoy your elitism, you pretentious bastards. (not aimed at anyone)

What about shoujos? They're even worse. Girl likes guy, guy likes girl, no plot development, they get married=classic shoujo. I don't hate shounen or shoujo, it depends on the content. But I honestly would prefer shounen over most shoujos.

I rather like shounen. I just don't read it a lot(too busy reading soo much shoujo). But right now, I'm reading like 10 shounen manga, so I'm starting to really get into it!! ^_^

Most of what I read is shounen, but I like Seinen A LOT more. But I have nothing against shounen manga. I just wish that most shounen manga wasn't so long.

I read a lot of Shounen, but as below said, I prefer Seinen a lot more than Shounen.

I read shounen once a while depend on its story of course, I admit there are lot more bad shounen than bad seinen series. But seriously comparing manga genres is like comparing next gen consoles.

i'm the complete opposite...i mainly read shounen because they tend to have the longer series....

Like I said, I don't hate the shounen demographic as a whole.......It's just that sometimes their stories can be boring and repetitive. I do like Shounen, but I like Shoujo better because I love the art, plot (I'm a hopeless romantic) and everything in between. Again, it's just preference.

shounen has to be fun and sympathetic
many lost those qualities over time, some don't even have them from the start
so in short, I don't hate it, but I do hate what popularity does with them most of the time. as their demographic is large, they often become too big and run way past their "expiration date", so to speak... ruining a good thing

I'd like shounen better if the main characters were better. You have two flavors: ordinary everyjoe or superpowered A-bomb with legs and there's rarely a middle ground. Side characters are usually decorations, no matter how much more interesting they are or developed they could be.

Seinen has better, more fleshed out and flawed characters. But I don't like a lot of the more grisly downer stories.

Eh, it's a dilemma.
