lol there always is that two or so volume laspe in the middle that's like "eh..... what happened"
friend characters are always either brick stupid, supremely perverted, or able to invent robots and anyother machine needed by the protaganist
There's got to be a hot springs somewhere.

For Shonen:
- The longer the manga the more insanely powerful the main character gets.
- The main character will lose the first fight with the more powerful new enemy who won´t finish him, and will always lose the next fight.
- The weaker the main character is at the beggining, the faster he will improve (one year is enough for him to kick ass).
For Shoujo:
- Even if the main character is an idiot she will get the guy she loves.
- If the main character meet a guy she hates in the first chapter, she will love him later.
-The guy the main character loves has always got an ex-girlfriend or somebody who loved in the past.

When there are swords/knives involved, one of the characters WILL stop the blade by catching it with bare hand(s).

When the male protagonist is badly injured to the point of death, sleeping is always the cure.

That only works in shounens.
Glados is a bitch. She made me kill the companion cube, the only friend I'll ever have. 😢

characters with eyepatches never actually have something wrong with their eye. It's "special" in some way instead.

NightSwan also said that she wanted to peg me, once, but I'm not sure whether to take that as a compliment or a threat...

When the male lead is in a doubt, a slap from the female lead will show him the way

For shounen:
The protagonist always starts out using only brute force and still manages to win each time then later realizes using strategy might be better...WRONG!....the protagonists finds battles are more difficult than they were before.
In battle listening to comrades will only get a character killed or almost killed. It's best to do the opposite.

Bandages seem to heal everything, no matter how deep the wound, except if they lose a limb which is soon to be reattached, replaced or healed by a side character (none of the protagonist ever have uber healing powers)
my absolute favorite from the anime laws of physics

When a character dies, a spotlight with falling cherry blossom petals must spontaneously appear during death and/or mourning.

if anything suprising occurs there is a 30% chance of falling down, 20% chance of staring back blankly and 50% chance of head flying back with a stream of blood from the nose.
the protaganist must always go through an intensive training session before each major challenge. and finish just in time
all shounen must have at least one catchphrase
the protaganist will never notice that he is liked by one or more girls until they tell him, or he makes an ass of himself in front of them.
there is always a special attack that hurts the user, but it gets used all the time anyway.
as a side note, i disagree with number three on the anime laws of phisics stating that a kid can pilot a mech with no prior training using evangelion as reference.
shinji could barely stand up strait and got his ass kicked the first time he was in an eva and only won because of the eva's property to respond to the emotions and thoughts of the pilot. all the other pilots in that series were trained. a better reference might be gundam seed although kira was special and that allowed him to do it.
