When I say intellectually arrogant I mean to say, that science, philosophy and other disciplines which supposedly prove that God doesn't exist have given atheists and the like a false sense of security. It's assuming that because we have discovered so much about the universe there is no limit to what we cannot learn. Although it may work for awhile there is a limit to every supposedly good theory. Just imagine if NASA built rocket ships based on the assumption the world was flat. I find it hard to believe that humanity can prove that God doesn't exist, just based on things we have learned through science.

Stop pretending you're from 4chon. d2jsp,the internet's a big place, not everything's from 4chan.

anyhow, i agree with zubz that you can't really rule out the possibility of a God. Theres no real way to prove or disprove the existence of god, and its more or less for that reason I'm open to the existence of a God.

Quote from Kai-chan

Fire, water, wind, and earth are all elements. They are classified as the elements of the weather. In fact, a dictionary would list one of the meanings as "One of the substances, usually earth, water, air, and fire, formerly regarded as constituting the material universe".

That was its former definition. Try putting that answer down on a science test and then arguing with the professor. <3 (To be fair to you though, I don't think you actually understand what you're arguing about, so I won't judge you to be as stupid as I previously thought.)

Back on topic. I believe in the existence of beings on higher planes of existence. They are there, we just cannot observe them because we do not hold the mental capacities to do so. Would I consider this person, or people, a god, or gods?

Mental capacities? So we can't observe them because they're all in our heads? Ok, I agree.

-Howdy again! How are you guys doing? Good I hope

-Also think about how science has proven mathematically that at least 4 dimensions exist in the material realm we all live in. Being a 3-d being I can imagine a 2-d square, and being a 3-d being I can imagine a 1-d infinite line, but being able to imagine those things is limited to my personal realm of experience. So then how can a 3-d being hope to comprehend what a hypercube (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypercube) looks like when as a 3-d being I can only look at the natural trends in this world to postulate an answer. Most likely it would be similar to describing the color blue to a person blind from birth (the best you can do is describe the way it makes you feel when you look at it).

Quote from ShadwsofArchonia

Lastly, Terra was not created in six days! Mathematics, physics, geology, other major sciences proves it billions of times over.

-First of all, inherently no science can truly prove anything (simply put the only thing an individual can prove is: I think therefore I am), but enough of my semantics 🙂
-Secondly, when the biblical account of creation it says something to the point of God not creating things young (hard to describe what I am trying to say) (for instance the chicken came before the egg because God made the chicken about at the prime of its life), therefore one can postulate that many things in the universe were "created" old (funky idea huh?). Also, some times some of science's tactics of finding the age of objects are only good up to a certain age. Also many times fossils are dated based upon the assumed date of the rock where they are found, which in and of itself isn't a problem except that many times the age of those rocks are based upon the age of the fossils in the area. On another note, the main way fossils are formed is NOT over millions of years but by cataclysmic events such as landslides, volcanoes, floods etc. Also of interest is that geologists (I think that is the correct field of study) assign the age of fossils based on the time when the period that the fossils were supposedly formed, but occasionally you find evidence that fossils will occasionally be in between or cover multiple levels.

@ DS, the way, you said it, it's like you're saying that you're far smarter than all theist put together. wonder why i haven't seen you won any nobel prizes before.

I am.

Intelligence isn't measured by Nobel prizes.

if you don't believe in god(s), don't shot down those who believe. it's like a sore losers who just lost a fight to a girl.

I realize that Muslims are sexist fucks (not inflammatory...this is a fact.), but please don't bring that into this forum. I'm not acting like a sore loser, I'm acting more like a sore winner in the game of life. I'm gloating, you could say.

Sadly you are almost everything that secular society accuses religious people of being.

Please explain why you just called me a hypocrite.

I'm intensely curious as to how you can justify such a statement, oh master of the straw.

No one can justly call religious people arrogant pricks if the person doing so is an arrogant prick. Simply the pot calling the kettle black.

You claim to call us ignorant and morons when by the very definition of moron (one who refuses to learn or simply put: someone without an open mind) you constantly call yourself more intelligent and more learned that ANY theist here simply because you take a different stance on a HIGHLY controversial subject. In my opinion and anyone with any capability to reason, I would call that MORONIC. We listen to your arguments but you ignore to even consider any of ours at all because you deem that because someone might be a theist that they would by definition be wrong anyway. I do not only claim you to be a fool, but also a degenerate leech detracting on the ability of mankind's capability to freely reason because of your own prejudices.

Lol. My life is based on learning. Religion closes off the mind to free thought. Just FYI, saying that anyone who is capable of reasoning would call me a moron is a terrible argument. For example, I can refute your statement by asking one of my friends (yes, they can reason) to determine whether or not I'm a moron for not being Christian (which is what you're implying, you clever person, you). When they say "no," you end up being wrong. Boy would your face be red. Do you want me to ask to prove it, or do you really not understand extremely basic subjects?

...I thought you were in University. Lawl @ your inability to properly format your sentences. If you want to bitch about free thought, yell at the keepers of your religion.

Don't be mad, kid. I'm sure that as you become more intelligent you'll drift away from your silly beliefs. <3

Hey guys, look, at this rate this thread is going to be locked. I personally don't want to see that happen because I think this is a great avenue for people to voice their opinions about God and a great opportunity to hear some solid arguments and beliefs. I'm willing to bet many of you guys just like me have strong beliefs and opinions on this topic but flamming people isn't what these forums are about. I think the admins already warned us about flamming. So please, if there really is a problem with certain individuals abusing the freedom this forum allows our best bet is to alert the admin. He is a great person from the posts that I've read and I'm sure he wants these forums to be a place where anyone should feel welcomed to post.

 • I had forgotten how useless it is to reason with someone who rejects all other points of view as his own. There is no more need for me to argue with me because your feeble attempts to defame me instead of attacking my argument is enough proof of your childishness.

It's probably not going to bring anything into this hot discussion, but this is my opinion - we're all too young and unexperienced to try to solve such a matter on our own.

The truth is, noone here is qualified to say god exists, god doesn't exist. And absolutely not qualified to tell others with different opinions that they're fools.
Someone trying to tell me what to believe or not would really have to be respectable, and not only believing so, along with thinking about himself as the center of the world.

Let's keep this thread clean and worth of our time, without all that calling names and childish fights.

Words have various definitions, the one I stated is a current and accurate definition of the word Element.

The simple fact that you cannot even admit your mistakes makes everything you say and try to argue invalid.

One such as you will never be taken seriously, because without being able to see and admit your own mistakes, you will never learn from them.

You are wrong.

Go ahead and reread that. Reread it a few times. Take it all in. Try to understand it, then accept it.

Sir, you're the only one with a strawman argument here.

You don't actually have a valid position. You say god exists, yet you have no proof. Remember, the burden of proof is yours. Until you find some way to prove your god exists I'm perfectly justified in calling you an idiot.

Petty mods on powertrips. Gotta love the internet.

You're actually in the wrong here. Sorry, kid, but I'm right. Get over it.

Keep up your ad hominem attacks though. Maybe once you luck out and get accepted into community college (not counting on it though) you'll realize just how wrong you are.

Also, stop breaking the rules. I told you to never refer to me, as I didn't give you permission to.

That's why it's called believing. You have no proofs, yet you decide to believe. What you want from TwilightDrgn is to give you proofs in a matter, which doesn't need proofs cause it's simply not about them. You missed the point completely.
You're asking for a wrong thing. And with a wrong purpose - to show how intelligent and cool you are. Talk all you want, but that's how it looks like to others. It was great to laugh about it for a while, but it's getting boring already.

And there's probably a limit of Kaioh's patience. If it turns out that you need an intervention of a mod to get a grip of yourself, you better throw your ID away or lower your age on it for about 10 years. You're asking everyone to behave like adults - please, give us a good example.

And, if it's possible, no PM's with insults this time, ok?

You say you're correct, but you provide no proof of such. I provided proof (It's in the dictionary), where's yours?

You seem to think I have to do what you say. I do not. I can refer to you if I so chose. It isn't name calling, so why not?

You, however, are name calling. There's a difference, which appearantly you cannot see (Just like you cannot see you're wrong, maybe there's a connection?).
