I usually like shonen art better than shojo, but only slightly stronger. I feel both genres have their cliche art styles and artstyles that defy those cliches, but I generally feel I find the latter in shonen more.
That's not to say I hate reading Arina Tanemura's work, but I always liked the style of older shojos better than the modern ones. I can't really say the same about shonen works, though.

Ima shoujo (i think more romance than shoujo) fan but....
Shoujo: The cutes, most beautiful faces ur ever see, but in most cases the back grounds and characters detail is just too plain simple
Shonen: The uggliest characters with scars and bruises but with great detail on the background, arms, machines, casttles, etc.... so yea, regarding art, shonen does kik ass

Are you sure abt 'the ugliest characters' SDK, Kenshin, Bleach, Recca, Black Cat, Kuroshitsuji, D.Gray-man (& many more) have so many great looking characters, both manly guys and bishounen. And gorgeous girls, trust me, shounen have those too (I dont mind the fanservice big boobs lol). I read shoujo and like some guys, but my most favourite? All from shounen, except for Ludwig Kakumei

Both.
Same here. There are good things and bad things I like about both. So I can't really choose just one. ^^;

i definitely like shounen-styled art a LOT more than shoujo.
personally, shoujo is just too sparkly and cutesy for me...
don't get me wrong, i like a few shoujos as long as the story is good.
i like more serious stories so, i definitely lean more toward shounen/seinen
because it's more realistic and less of the big bubbly eyes ha P:
but really, i like creative, unique artwork like:
- BASSO/ONO Natsume
- NANANAN KIRIKO
- NAKAMURA ASUMIKO
- ONOZUKA KAHORI
- RENAISSANCE YOSHIDA

I voted same.
Some shoujo has amazing art.
Some shounen have amazing art.
But both have horrible styles of art that I dislike. I dislike the huge moe-eyes of the shoujo manga. And I hate how girls in shounen manga look like they came straight out of a porno. Seriously, no real Japanese girl is THAT curvy unless they're some gravure idol...
I prefer josei/seinen art.

I prefer shoujo art. c:
Though I don't mind shounen either, but for shounen; my eyes sometimes blur during action scenes. xD

I prefer Shounen because things tend to have distinct outlines. I dunno why I like that but whatever.

Shoujo art by a long mile.
Sure I also like Shounen art, but there's something about Shoujo art that makes want to love it even more then Shounen art.

Shounen art for me.
Not a big fan of the Shojo art in general.
One example: The eyes tend to be massive in size, on females.

Both are the same. Many shoujo/shonen have good art, and other shoujo/shonen have crappy art.
A perfect example for shoujo with bad art is Full Moon o Sagashite. The cliched, big-eyed girls and the pretty boys are all there (no, I don't read those kind of manga. My little sister reads it). The girl's eyes are too creepy for me. But, shoujo like The Bride of the Water God is absolutely GORGEOUS. Shoujo art tends to lean toward the making of very pretty girls and boys. But a lot don't really pay attention to backgrounds. The Bride of the Water God is different, though (the background and the clothing details are just OMGTHATISSOFREAKINGGOOD).
As for shounen, a lot are very undetailed. I don't mean all, but a lot. And the girls have boobs that are way too big. But I guess that's sort of like how a lot of shoujo girls have huge eyes. But that's a whole different category, I guess. But, the details on the swords, guns, etc., and the fighting poses are really detailed. Take Rurouni Kenshin and Samurai Deeper Kyo for example. The fighting parts are very detailed.
