Girl Friends was one of the first manga I read and definitely in my top 3 (and unquestionably #1 in Shoujo Ai category)

After that I have tried reading many GL titles including Pieta, Stray Little Devil, Clover, Tenbin wa Hana to Asobu, Love my Life, Katakoihime, Hatsukoi Shimai, Octave, Orange Yellow, Strawberry Shake, Ameiro Kouchakan Kandan and few more, but I didn't even find anything that wasn't tragically bad, aside from Pieta perhaps, which was somewhat decent. (btw, I listed these manga from the ones I liked best to the ones I hated the most)

So here comes my question: Is there anything that is anywhere near as good as Girl Friends?

While I'm asking for Shoujo Ai, you're free to recommend me normal romance or Shounen Ai since I'm open to that. Some titles I enjoyed include Orange Marmalade, Haru yo Koi and Karakuri Odetto. Ones I definitely hated include Kaichou wa Maid-sama, Toradora, Houou Gakuen Misoragumi and DearS.

Ebisu-san and Hotei-san gives off kind of the same feeling as Girl Friends. Its a lot shorter though.
Then there's Sasameki Koto and Aoi Hana.

But Girl Friends is the best shoujo ai, to me anyway 😛 It's like the shoujo ai bible.

My favorite shoujo-ai is Husky and Medley which I recommend to you. It has the whole "popular girl and regular girl are friends then realize they are in love" trope. It's based on a true story and encompasses a lot of 4chan/2ch lingo so it's smart to be familiar with that. Also, Prism (Higashiyama Shou) had a great run.

The whole point is not to be overly cliched...

Unfortunately, my attention span is too short to follow anything monthly (Aoi Hana) and I'll wait until Sasameki Koto gets scanlated to the end.

I'll check out the rest of the manga you mentioned, thanks ^^

Yeah almost anything by Hiyori Otsu.
I love Prism. Humour is a big up for me.
These are all on Dynasty Reader:
Rock it, GIRL!! - It has potential, only 3 chapters.
Cigarettes != Chocolate
Ohana Holoholo
Wife to be
Lonesome Echo
Lonely Wolf, Lonely Sheep
For You, My Beloved
Under the Ceiling 4
Mermaid Line
We're Aiming For Love Now
Present
Forever Girls
First Love
The Flower And The Star
Girl's Ride
Cirque Arachne
Notes From The Garden Of Lilies
Another Kiss
A Knife Edge Girl

As for shounen-ai
Negative-kun to Positive-kun
Bokura ni Matsuwaru Etcetera
And a lot more from spectrum nexus.

Also liked Tomodachi no Hanashi
Dramacon
